Core values include:  Integrity - Service - Excellence - Stability - Strength - Respect - Teamwork Role Overview of a Director of Business Analysis & Quality Engineering: Director of Business Analysis & Quality Engineering is a senior IT leader responsible for establishing clarity, quality, and delivery discipline across the organization’s technology initiatives. This position provides strategic direction, standards, and accountability for business analysis and quality assurance practices, ensuring that solutions delivered by agile teams are well-defined, well-tested, and aligned with business intent. This role is accountable for building a modern, outcome-oriented BA and QA capability that operates within agile delivery teams, not as a detached control function. This includes deliberate investment in skills development, coaching, and professional growth to ensure the organization’s analysis and quality capabilities mature alongside its delivery model. The Director ensures that the organization has the practices, standards, and capabilities to translate business intent into clear, actionable work, that quality is engineered into solutions from the outset, and that automation and testing practices mature alongside the organization’s delivery model. The Director balances day-to-day delivery enablement with longer-term capability development, ensuring that analysis and quality functions scale effectively, reduce risk, and increase confidence in technology outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business, Computer Science, or a related field. A master’s degree is preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in business analysis, quality assurance, or technology delivery roles.
  • 5+ years of experience leading BA, QA, or delivery enablement teams.
  • Demonstrated experience operating within agile or iterative delivery environments.
  • Strong understanding of agile delivery, business analysis practices, and quality engineering principles.
  • Proven ability to lead teams that operate within cross-functional delivery models.
  • Experience establishing standards without creating unnecessary bureaucracy.
  • Ability to balance rigor with pragmatism in fast-moving delivery environments.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to influence technical and business stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in regulated or complex business domains preferred.
  • Agile-related certifications or experience are strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Establish the vision, standards, and operating model for business analysis and quality assurance across the organization.
  • Ensure BA and QA practices support agile delivery principles, emphasizing collaboration, shared accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Define and evolve organizational expectations and shared standards for requirements clarity, acceptance criteria, testing depth, and quality outcomes across teams.
  • Ensure Business Analysts and QA Engineers are embedded within agile teams and operating as integral contributors to delivery outcomes.
  • Partner with product, delivery, and engineering leadership to improve backlog quality, refinement practices, and readiness for development.
  • Promote appropriate consistency in approaches to definition of ready, definition of done, and quality validation across teams.
  • Provide strategic direction for quality engineering practices, including test automation, test strategy, and tooling.
  • Guide and support the Lead QA Engineer in establishing and evolving the organization’s automated testing framework and quality architecture.
  • Ensure automation efforts are aligned with delivery priorities and reduce regression risk while improving speed and confidence.
  • Establish metrics and feedback loops to assess quality, rework, defect trends, and delivery effectiveness.
  • Identify systemic issues impacting quality or clarity and drive corrective action at the organizational level.
  • Continuously refine BA and QA processes to improve flow, predictability, and outcomes.
  • Reduce delivery and operational risk by improving clarity, shared understanding, and early validation of business intent.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop BA and QA leaders and practitioners.
  • Establish clear role expectations, career paths, and growth opportunities within analysis and quality disciplines.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and execute a long-term capability roadmap for business analysis and quality engineering, including skills progression, role evolution, and succession planning.
  • Collaborate closely with software development, product development, data, infrastructure, and information security leaders to ensure cohesive delivery practices.
  • Provide input into delivery planning, risk assessment, and prioritization from a requirements and quality perspective.
  • Partner with vendors and external delivery partners to ensure alignment with organizational standards and expectations.
  • Work closely with the VP of IT Strategy to align BA and QA capabilities with enterprise goals and technology roadmaps.
  • Ensure analysis and quality practices evolve in support of business growth, regulatory requirements, and organizational maturity.
  • Represent the BA and QA perspective in leadership discussions related to delivery, risk, and organizational change.
