Function daily as assistant director for all bridge play and related events and activities. Reports directly to the Assistant General Manager.
The Director of Bridge will be in charge of setting up the budget for yearly play, including, but not limited to, Bridge, etc. Within this budget, they will take charge of all related events – Dinners, Luncheons, and special functions that are in-house.
Events consist of opening and closing bridge days, opening and closing Twilite Bridge Dinners, and assisting the catering department in the Member Guest Charity Event Card Party in January, as well as other card parties.
Manage and regulate the Directors’ schedules and payments for each game throughout each month.
Manage and make purchases for ACBL fees, equipment needs, prizes, etc.
Manage event orders for all Duplicate Bridge Games and their food and beverage needs. Work with the F&B manager on all social game needs in regards to food and beverage and labor.
Work with the F&B Coordinator on event orders that pertain to member gratis games to ensure fluidity in communication and that setup needs are there and available.
Set up contracts and payment schedules with all directors and instructors, as well as set up and host special events, lessons, etc.
Must charge members for registration, events, guests, and other fees that pertain to the specific Bridge event(s). Meet with the Bridge Committee once a month to discuss additional events, current events, issues, and adhering to the budget.
Create the Bridge calendar and make sure that all dates fit within the operational staff's needs.
Send calendar and all flyers, forms to graphic designer then make sure all is approved with committee and AGM before posting.
Update website with all bridge events and updates to always keep things current.
Must use and update the Bridge Email group that has all registered bridge players so that you can regularly send e-blasts regarding events and any changes or updates.
Stay current with all Bridge charges and invoices, as well as input into the calendar for month-end recaps with accounting. All purchases made for Bridge must adhere to accounting requirements as far as fitting into the budget, quotes over $1,000.00, and GM’s approval for items over $1,500.00. In addition, all directors and instructors must have invoice numbers and turn their invoices in at the end of each month. All directors and assistant directors can be paid up to 30 days after invoices have been turned in.
Preparing cards for weekly play.
Maintain and service supplies and equipment.
Assist in partner play matching and game coordination.
Develop and maintain a continual lesson plan for both beginner and intermediate players, ensuring structured learning pathways throughout the season.
Actively participate in partnership pairings, including assisting members with finding compatible partners for games, supervised play, and tournaments.
Collaborate with the Bridge Committee to ensure instructional programs, player development, and event formats align with committee goals and member expectations.
Provide ongoing assessment of player progress and recommend additional learning opportunities or supplemental classes as appropriate.
Support and advise the committee on best practices for enhancing member engagement and improving the overall Bridge experience at the Club.
Executes additional responsibilities as required to support the effective operation, quality, and ongoing development of the Bridge program and broader Club initiatives.
Undergraduate degree; or five years of management experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, with emphasis on Excel and Word, is required.
Organization skills and attention to detail are required.
