About The Position

The Director of Aviation will drive the growth of NV5’s position in the aviation market by bringing the firm’s mapping, enterprise asset management, and digital twin capabilities to airports both throughout North America and across the world. Duties of this position include sourcing and pursuing new business opportunities, managing our partner network to expand our footprint with existing aviation clients, leading proposals on all new business pursuits, generating quotes and support collateral, and being a thought leader in the industry. Requirements

  • Proven ability to drive sales both within an organization and externally with clients and partners.
  • Advanced knowledge of the aviation industry including regulatory, design and construction, and operational requirements.
  • Ability to engage clients, track and qualify leads, and close sales.
  • Capable of presenting new technologies and ideas to decision makers.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to write, present, whiteboard concepts, and negotiation skills including good listening, probing, and qualification abilities.
  • Results-driven mindset with a focus on achieving targets and business growth.
  • Knowledge of the sales pipeline, B-A-N-T qualification methodology and CRM systems. Salesforce preferred.
  • Highly motivated, collaboritive team player with a mature, positive attitude and passion to meet the challenges and opportunities of the business.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, adaptability, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills with the ability to translate insights into actionable revenue growth plans.
  • 10+ years of sales and/or influencing sales role and demonstrated experience in selling into the aviation market.
  • Knowledge of the aviation industry, geospatial mapping and GIS software pertinent to FAA Part 77 airspace and obstruction protection requirements.
  • Knowledge of aviation industry budgeting and procurement cycles.
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in aviation, business, marketing, geography/GIS, or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience with leading high-level/executive engagements to provide services and solutions in the aviation market.
  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating, prospecting, proposing, and winning contracts.
  • Demonstrated experience with strong partnerships and advocacy with clients.
  • Experience developing and implementing go-to-market strategies for new products or solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Drive New Business: Proactively identify, qualify, and close new opportunities across public‑use civil airports, including commercial service and general aviation.
  • Expand Existing Accounts: Deepen relationships with current direct clients and AEC partners to uncover additional needs and upsell solutions.
  • Deliver Value: Articulate the business impact of geospatial technologies and tailor solutions to general aviation challenges.
  • Lead Proposals: Collaborate with our Bid & Proposal and Operations teams to craft accurate and competitive estimates and winning proposals.
  • Be a Thought Leader: Represent NV5 at industry events, contribute to blogs and forums, and stay ahead of geospatial trends.
  • Report & Forecast: Maintain a healthy pipeline and provide accurate sales forecasts using CRM.
