About The Position

The position involves ensuring that Athletic Training Services provides quality athlete care for student-athletes participating in the intercollegiate athletics program. This includes managing all aspects of injury/illness prevention, recognition, evaluation, management, treatment, disposition, and rehabilitation. The role also requires coordination of all medical health care efforts and providers necessary to support the intercollegiate athletics program, as well as administration of the daily operational requirements of the Athletic Training Services program. The individual will work closely with area medical and professional personnel to facilitate a comprehensive health care program for Grizzly athletes and will be responsible for maintaining compliance with various federal and state guidelines.

Requirements

  • Current licensure as an athletic trainer.
  • Knowledge of injury prevention, evaluation, and rehabilitation techniques.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with medical professionals.
  • Strong communication skills for liaising with various stakeholders.
  • Experience in managing athletic training services.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a collegiate athletic environment.
  • Certification from the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA).
  • Background in fiscal and budgetary management.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures quality athlete care for student-athletes through management of injury/illness prevention, recognition, evaluation, management, treatment, disposition, and rehabilitation.
  • Enables student-athletes to return to full physical functioning by providing quality treatment and making referrals to physicians as appropriate.
  • Facilitates student-athletes compliance with prescribed rehabilitative treatments by educating them about their injuries and providing feedback.
  • Minimizes institutional liability by maintaining proper licensure and practicing in accordance with state regulations.
  • Coordinates with medical and professional personnel for the overall health care program of Grizzly athletes.
  • Maintains professional competence and expands knowledge through professional development opportunities.
  • Assures compliance with federal, state, and NJCAA guidelines.
  • Manages risk through appropriate evaluation and emergency care decisions.
  • Serves as a liaison to various stakeholders concerning the health care and status of student-athletes.
  • Works at all practices and events as assigned, including out-of-town events.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, and evaluates lifeguards based on industry standards.
  • Ensures safe and effective operation of the swimming pool and fitness room.
  • Responsible for fiscal and budgetary management of the Athletic Training and Wellness department.
  • Promotes a positive image of the campus through community and professional engagement.
  • Contributes to a respectful work environment that values diversity.
  • Remains competent through self-directed professional development.
  • Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
