About The Position

The Director, Asset Trading (engines, airframes, and components) will support and execute aircraft trading transactions in alignment with the company’s portfolio strategy, driving margin growth, inventory turns, disciplined pricing, and risk-managed deal execution. The role executes transactions end-to-end under guidance, from market sensing and opportunity origination through pricing, contracting, repair/harvest decisions, and post‑sale performance, at all times working closely with key transaction counterparts in the Commercial, Technical/Engineering, Engines, Records, Legal, Contracts, and Finance departments. The Director is expected to actively build market knowledge and trading judgement over time, supported by senior leadership. This position will also intentionally overlap with the charter space of colleagues involved in commercial finance and transactions to improve speed and accountability.

Requirements

  • 7-12 years of experience in aviation aftermarket, asset sales, parts trading, leasing, or commercial roles, with exposure to asset transactions.
  • Working knowledge of financial modeling concepts (IRR, NPV, ROC) with willingness to deepen asset-level modeling expertise.
  • Demonstrated success in parts sales, USM trading, leasing support, or complex commercial negotiations.
  • Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills within the aviation market.
  • Contract literacy and ability to work effectively with Legal and Financial partners.
  • Systems: ERP, CRM, quoting tools; Excel/BI proficiency; comfort working with KPI dashboards.

Responsibilities

  • Assess opportunities across the regional and commercial aircraft market, including mid-life and end-of-life assets.
  • Provide market observations, pricing feedback, and transaction learnings to senior leadership.
  • Execute transactions consistent with established portfolio strategy, buy/hold/teardown guidelines, and hurdle rates.
  • Support transaction processes (RFP process, LOIs, purchase and sale contracts, coordinate internal approvals, build and maintain pricing models, and supply models for transaction negotiations across cross-functional teams.
  • Understand areas of transaction exposure and develop risk mitigation protocols related to tax implications of closing jurisdiction, teardown location, etc.
  • Support transaction-level financial performance and deal margin tracking.
  • Build and manage a healthy pipeline across key accounts including airlines, lessors, and investors.
  • Recommend and develop opportunistic sourcing channels - Operators, Lessors, OEMs, traders, investors.
  • Represent the company at industry events for development, deal sourcing, and relationship development.
  • Reflect RFQ/Quote flow ownership for assigned accounts and opportunities.
  • Perform deal underwriting (margin, cash flow, residual risk) in coordination with Commercial Finance on modeling and hurdle rates within established approval frameworks.
  • Maintain governance for approvals, documentation, and audit trails (SOX-equivalent discipline).
  • Support asset acquisition rational development for recommendations working closely with members of Commercial team.
  • Develop acceptance, configuration, and delivery standards frameworks for handoffs to Ops/Engineering.
  • Participate in weekly investment/market reviews and monthly business performance reviews.
  • Ensure adherence to export controls, sanctions, anti-bribery, and internal approval policies.
  • Culturally sensitive when conducting business across the globe. Able to travel as required.
