The Director of Assessment and Program Review, reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Planning and Assessment, plays a central role in advancing a culture of evidence-based decision-making and continuous improvement across Coppin State University. The Director is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing comprehensive systems of assessment and academic program review that support institutional effectiveness and uphold accreditation requirements. This position requires close collaboration with faculty, staff, and administrators across academic and administrative units to ensure the effective collection, analysis, and use of assessment data. The Director works to ensure that academic programs and administrative units engage in systematic self-evaluation and continuous improvement efforts aligned with institutional priorities and external standards, particularly those of the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE). Serving as an institutional leader in outcomes assessment and program evaluation, the Director provides guidance and professional development opportunities to campus stakeholders, promoting best practices in assessment methodology, data interpretation, and action planning. Additionally, the Director supports accreditation and strategic planning activities by coordinating institutional-level assessment efforts, producing reports, and aligning assessment results with student learning and institutional goals. Coppin State University, a member of the University System of Maryland and an accredited institution of MSCHE, is a model urban, residential liberal arts university located in northwest Baltimore. Founded in 1900, Coppin offers 32 bachelor's, 14 master's, 15 certificate, and 1 doctoral program to more than 2,400 students across day, evening, weekend, and online courses.
