Emory University School of Medicine's Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine seeks a Director of Anatomic Pathology based at Grady Memorial Hospital. This renowned public academic hospital serves Atlanta and its surrounding communities. Grady’s anatomic pathology division handles approximately 15,000 surgical pathology specimens, 3,200 non-GYN cytology specimens, 9500 GYN cytology specimens, and 70 autopsies annually. The Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine of Emory University is one of the largest training centers for pathologists in the United States and offers unique and exciting teaching and research environments. Requirements

  • Applicants must possess MD or MD/PhD degrees
  • be board eligible or certified in Anatomic Pathology
  • be eligible for medical licensure in Georgia.

Responsibilities

  • Cultivate a culture of collaboration, excellence, and continuous improvement within Anatomic Pathology (AP).
  • Work with Grady’s CLIA director to ensure operations of Anatomic Pathology are in accordance with CAP and other regulatory agencies
  • Provide supervision and mentorship to a team comprising 8 AP faculty members.
  • Provide oversight of histology, immunohistochemistry, and gross room laboratories, working closely with technical staff.
  • Assist the Directors of Cytopathology and Autopsy with daily operations and quality measures, and provide strategic oversight for the AP QA Director
  • Assist the Director of Informatics/Digital Pathology in the implementation of digital pathology initiatives
  • Engage in the education and mentorship of medical students, residents, and fellows, fostering a learning environment that supports professional growth
  • Contribute to academic scholarship through participation in research, publications, presentations, and other scholarly activities aligned with departmental and institutional goals
