The position is responsible for developing and managing a comprehensive Alumni Relations annual plan. This includes hiring, training, and supervising the Alumni Relations Specialist and student assistants. The role involves executing all alumni relations outreach, including newsletters, e-contacts, social media, networking events, and reunions, such as RAFT Weekend. The individual will recruit, manage, direct, and inspire the Alumni Advisory Board and serve as the CSUMB campus representative on the CSU Alumni Council. Additionally, the position requires collaboration with vendors, affinity partners, and University partners to enhance programs and alumni engagement, as well as capturing strategic interactions with alumni in the donor database. In terms of communications, the role oversees the content, layout, and distribution of alumni e-newsletters, invitations, and event flyers, coordinating a wide range of projects through to completion and analyzing communications tracking data. The position may also involve coordinating the hiring, training, and scheduling of student assistants and directing their work assignments. Other job-related duties and special projects may be assigned as needed.

  • Execute all alumni relations outreach including newsletters, e-contacts, social media, networking events, and reunions.
  • Recruit, manage, direct, and inspire the Alumni Advisory Board.
  • Serve as the CSUMB campus representative on the CSU Alumni Council.

  • Maintain the CSUMB alumni website.
  • Coordinate the hiring, training, and scheduling of student assistants.
  • Equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university AND/OR equivalent training and professional work experience in alumni relations, events, and communication.
  • Three to five years of progressively responsible experience relevant to the job responsibilities.
  • Two years of supervisory and/or management experience.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented, well organized, focused, and goal-oriented with a high level of initiative and energy.
  • Event planning and execution experience.
  • Proficient in the use of personal computers, including word processing, spreadsheet and database software.
  • A bachelor's degree with a minimum of three to five years of experience, preferably in higher education or a comparably complex organization.
  • Experience in using Raiser's Edge or similar software; PeopleSoft, Oracle, or other relational databases; Microsoft Professional Suite, especially PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Google platform.
