Position Overview Lumentum is seeking a visionary and execution-oriented Director of Enterprise AI to lead the company's AI transformation journey. This role will be pivotal in shaping and executing a focused, enterprise-wide AI strategy aligned with business priorities and value realization. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML), especially in Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), coupled with proven experience in driving cross-functional AI adoption in complex, global environments. Strategic Responsibilities Enterprise AI Strategy: Define and implement an enterprise-wide AI roadmap focused on efficiency, innovation, and decision-making quality. Value-Driven Adoption: Lead AI initiatives using Lumentum’s use case prioritization framework with measurable benefits in financial impact, customer experience, and risk reduction. Organizational Leadership: Establish and grow the AI Center of Excellence and cross-functional teams to foster scalable and repeatable AI innovation. Governance & Investment: Develop AI investment frameworks, governance models, and risk management policies consistent with a $5M+ multi-year roadmap. Technical and Operational Responsibilities AI Solution Development: Oversee the architecture and deployment of AI/ML solutions with a strong emphasis on Visual AI, CNN-based image inspection, predictive analytics, and custom GPT frameworks. Generative AI Integration: Drive integration of GenAI solutions (e.g., ChatGPT) into business workflows by connecting them with internal knowledge repositories. MLOps & Scalability: Establish scalable AI infrastructure and pipelines, including CI/CD for ML models, monitoring, retraining, and explainability. AI-Enabled Operations: Collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, supply chain, and customer operations to embed AI into products, infrastructure, and processes. Team Leadership Hire and lead AI/ML specialists and developers, enabling agile execution of high-impact initiatives. Partner with manufacturing and R&D leads to accelerate domain-specific adoption. Serve as the primary internal champion for AI innovation, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing across business units. Qualifications Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field. 5+ years of experience in AI/ML, including 3+ years in enterprise leadership roles. Expertise in CNNs and Visual AI applications, especially for inspection, classification, and defect detection. Proficiency in leading AI/ML platforms such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and emerging generative AI ecosystems. Strong understanding of AI governance, ethical AI, and value-led digital transformation. Preferred Experience Experience in semiconductor, photonics, or advanced manufacturing sectors. Familiarity with regulated environments and secure AI deployments. Pay Range: P90-USA-1 :$164,650.00 - $235,200.00 Disclaimer: Final base salary for the successful candidate will depend on multiple factors, including but not limited to, job location, where work will be performed, qualifications, work history and relevant experience.
