The Director of Adult and Continuing Education reports to the COO and is responsible for directing and coordinating the ESL (ELA), ABE, and ASE. The Director also oversees and directs child and family services programming (Family Literacy & After School). The Director of Adult and Continuing Education coordinates with the Director of Career Pathways and Community Affairs and other academic coordinators, for the successful offering of services. The Director of Adult and Continuing Education provides leadership, management, and direction to the Adult and Continuing Education Department. The Adult Education Department is a comprehensive program of free classes for adult students who need to learn English or improve their basic literacy skills, obtain a GED certificate, or prepare for the Citizenship exam. The mission of the Adult Education Department is to provide educational programs that help adults gain the knowledge, skills and guidance necessary for transition to college and career pathways. This position directs, manages, and provides leadership in all instructional and academic support systems within the Adult Education program. In addition, it promotes and coordinates courses, curriculum, and course development and evaluation. This administrative position, which is confidential in nature, has managerial responsibilities over all faculty, students and clerical staff associated with the program.
