About The Position

Elderwood Village at Greece is seeking a Director of Activities responsible for developing and directing an engaging activity program for residents. The role focuses on ensuring that residents are active and engaged through various activities that cater to their psychological, social, and spiritual needs. The ideal candidate will have an Associates degree or higher in Recreation and experience working with seniors in an activities capacity.

Requirements

• An associates degree and training in recreation required.
• The Activities director must be approved by NYS department of health, based on their experience and training.
• Experience with individuals with cognitive impairment and/or behavior management.
• Demonstrated supervisory experience preferred.
• Demonstrated computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and web-based applications.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at an intermediate or more advanced level.

Nice To Haves

• Certification in dementia and/or behavior management (e.g. CDT) (or will obtain within 1 year of hire date) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plans, directs and schedules a monthly program of group, individual, and independent activities for residents.
• Directs Activity Leaders in implementing all phases of the Activity Department programs.
• Plans Volunteer Program and recruits, orients, trains, and directs volunteers.
• Cultivates and maintains good public relations and contact with service groups and other community organizations.
• Interviews new residents and prepares initial assessment information, including assigned sections of MDS+.
• Attends Resident Care planning meetings and/or reviews Resident/Family Care plan review sessions; writes and/or reviews the Activities plan of care in the Medical Record Chart of each resident.
• Prepares and/or reviews required documentation including initial evaluations, progress notes, attendance at activities program and discharge summaries.
