About The Position

The Director of Accounting is responsible for providing financial oversight for the School of Dental Medicine, managing a $50 million+ budget and $6 million in clinical collections, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance with regulations, and supporting strategic financial planning. Reporting directly to the Associate Dean for Finance and Administration, CFO, the Director of Accounting ensures that financial processes are executed in alignment with the school’s goals and strategic priorities. The Director of Accounting provides direct oversight and guidance to the centralized business office and works under the direction of the CFO to implement financial strategies, ensure compliance, and support financial decision-making at the leadership level. In addition to financial oversight, the Director of Accounting focuses on process improvement, leading efforts to streamline financial workflows, particularly in billing, insurance claims processing, and collections. The Director of Accounting will manage audits, ensuring compliance with university, state, and federal financial regulations. Initially, the Director of Accounting will not supervise staff directly but will collaborate with the Clinical Business Services Manager to implement financial controls and improve business office efficiency. Over time, the Director of Accounting will take on greater supervisory responsibilities once processes are stabilized and optimized.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA)
  • Seven (7) years of experience
  • Three (3) years of supervisory experience
  • Five (5) years of management experience
  • Credentials must be obtained prior to the employment start date.
