About The Position

Director of Accounting and Finance Scope of the Job: The Director of Accounting and Finance is an individual contributor, providing a clear understanding of the importance in driving the financial success of an organization. This individual role involves managing the financial aspects of government contracts, managing, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and compliance with government regulations while providing strategic guidance to executive leadership. Reports to President/CEO. Essential Functions & Responsibilities Develop and maintain timely and accurate financial statements and reports that are appropriate for the users and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) Coordinate, analyze and report the financial performance to Management Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with internal financial and accounting policies and procedures Manage and forecasting cash flow Develop and maintain forecasts and budgets, working closely with program managers throughout the process Contract Management: Managing contracts with government agencies, ensuring performance, and handling any disputes that may arise Risk Management: Identifying and mitigating risks associated with contracts and financial operations Responsible for month end close process Reviews and approves account reconciliations Oversee yearend audit and DCAA voucher audits and inquiries Prepare and submit Incurred Cost Submission Review and approve all GL functions, A/R, A/P, Payroll Prepare and submit provisional rates Prepare monthly invoices and WAWF/IPP submission Develop system preprocessor templates and performs successful uploads (AMEX) Prepare project management reports for customers Manage staff accountant and payroll/accounting manager Nonessential Functions Perform other duties as assigned Participation in special department projects as needed

Requirements

  • Education: A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is required; an MBA or CPA is preferred.
  • Experience: Significant experience in financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Skills: Strong analytical skills, leadership abilities, and excellent communication skills are essential for effectively managing financial operations and collaborating with other departments.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP, FAR, DCAA
  • Government Contracts experience
  • Deltek Costpoint proficiency
  • Advanced in MS/Office
  • Analytical/Interpersonal Skills
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities; gathers, evaluates, and interprets information to resolve issues effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present financial and numerical data clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Oral communication – the individual speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations, demonstrates group presentation skills and conducts meetings.
  • Highly organized with strong planning and time-management skills; prioritizes work and develops realistic action plans.
