About The Position

The Director of Access and Disability Resources (ADR) provides leadership, guidance and operational oversight of ADR services at all Massasoit locations. The Director will ensure that all aspects of ADR services are progressive, comprehensive and reflective of best practices in the postsecondary disability services field. The Director will also oversee and support the MAIPSE (Massachusetts Inclusive Post Secondary Education) program. A key responsibility will be collaborating with the college community on institutional access requirements and practices.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in related discipline (Counseling, Rehabilitation Counseling, Special Education, Disability Studies, Human Services, Student Affairs, or related field);
  • A minimum of six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in provision of services to individuals with disabilities in higher education;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legal issues (Section 504, ADA, etc.);
  • Demonstrated experience interpreting various forms of disability documentation to determine eligibility for services and the reasonable accommodations necessary to ensure equal access;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of assistive technology and its implementation related to academic accommodations.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the operational and programmatic functions of the ADR department;
  • Develop, implement, refine and evaluate ADR service policies and procedures;
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of disability laws, best practices, and current trends pertaining to accommodations for students with disabilities in post-secondary education;
  • Work collaboratively with the college community to coordinate accommodations and accessibility for individuals with disabilities;
  • Offer consultation and serve as a resource to faculty, staff, visitors, and administrators regarding accommodations, accessibility and disability information;
  • Provide in-service training and awareness activities to the college community on topics such as ADR services, learning strategies, disabilities, disability laws, etc. to maintain a campus culture that is committed to and knowledgeable about accessibility;
  • Determine semester staffing and service needs at all campuses;
  • Serve as a resource on the procurement and implementation of Assistive Technology software and hardware for use by students with disabilities;
  • Supervise and advocate for the MAIPSE program (an inclusive enrollment opportunity for students with intellectual/developmental disabilities), supporting its growth and sustainability;
  • Hire, train, supervise and evaluate ADR and MAIPSE positions;
  • Monitor and implement budget and payroll; develop annual budget requests; manage expenditures, forecast budget projections, and oversee allocation of resources;
  • Oversee and develop MAIPSE grant; manage sound expenditures of all MAIPSE funding resources; collaborate with Grants departments as needed;
  • Manage ADR information on the College website and in college and department publications;
  • Compile, maintain and manage data and statistics reflecting progress, trends, use of services and appropriate recommendations for future programming and initiatives;
  • Maintain confidential files and records;
  • Serve on the college's CARE team;
  • Participate in staff meetings, division and college meetings, and other professional meetings
  • Perform other duties as required to enhance student access and the college mission;
