About The Position

The Academic Resource Team works collaboratively with students, faculty, families, division leadership, and outside providers to develop personalized support plans and services for students PS-Grade 12. This integrated, high-touch model is driven by our team of 14 Learning Coaches/Academic Resource Coordinators and overseen by the Director of Academic Resource Services, who advises teams and provides support from the Mount Vernon admissions process when a family is applying to attend Mount Vernon, through their academic journey, and all the way through the college admissions process. The Director of Academic Resource Services serves as a strategic leader and educational consultant, partnering with students, families, and faculty to design and deliver inclusive, research-based academic supports across Preschool–Grade 12. This role oversees systems and programs that ensure equitable access to learning, early intervention, and compliance with state and national requirements. The Director also plays a key leadership role in admissions, professional learning, and cross-divisional collaboration to support student growth and long-term success.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Special Education, Educational Psychology, Curriculum & Instruction, Human Development, Educational Leadership, or a related field, with classroom experience and appropriate teaching certification preferred.
  • 5+ years experience in academic resource support
  • Demonstrated PK–12 experience supporting students with learning differences, including expertise in psychoeducational evaluations, instructional interventions, academic and standardized testing accommodations, and connecting families with outside providers
  • Proven leadership experience managing and coaching teams, and leading or coordinating Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and related student-support frameworks.
  • Strong instructional and professional learning expertise, including facilitation of faculty professional development, parent education, and application of evidence-based practices such as executive functioning supports, assistive technology, and Orton-Gillingham literacy approaches.
  • Operational and compliance proficiency, including experience in independent school environments, admissions collaboration, state and federal program compliance, grant administration, and strong organizational, data-management, and cross-divisional communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite & Mac/Apple OS

Responsibilities

  • Provide coaching, support, and professional development for a team of learning coaches, collaborating with teachers and families to design, implement, and monitor individualized accommodation plans and early-intervention strategies
  • Oversee academic resource services for current and prospective students, including review of psychoeducational evaluations and participation in admissions committees, events, and consultations
  • Design and facilitate professional learning experiences focused on differentiated instruction, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), executive functioning, assistive technology, and student support best practices
  • Coordinate and manage standardized testing accommodations and special testing logistics with external agencies (e.g., College Board, ACT)
  • Develop and deliver parent education programs that promote student independence, efficiency, and self-advocacy
  • Support auxiliary academic programming
  • Ensure and oversee compliance with state and federal programs, including the Georgia Special Needs Scholarship program and Title IV grant requirements
  • Coordinate onboarding, training, approval, and scheduling of in-house and outside service providers working on campus
  • Lead data management, documentation, and reporting related to academic resources, accommodation plans, and compliance
  • Collaborate with school leadership on strategic initiatives, research and design efforts, and continuous improvement of student support systems
