About The Position

This position is responsible for the curriculum and student records of all students in the School of Public Health, ensuring they are recorded accurately and appropriately in University systems and publications; that school leaders and department officials, faculty, advisors and students have appropriate access to information about policies and procedures relating to course creation and maintenance, registration and degree requirements; and that policies and procedures are developed, promulgated and enforced according to faculty governance and collaboration with University partners. The Director is responsible for maintaining and ensuring the quality and integrity of student academic records and the consistency of the associated processes and workflows; oversees school practices with the student information system’s functions related to registration, advising, grades, course information; and creates a variety of important internal and external reports. The Director supports the academic mission and strategic decision making through data analysis and the use of technology-based solutions. The role, which requires a high level of discernment, analytic capability and discretion, advises on academic policies and serves as a thought partner to the Associate Dean of Education as well as an essential collaborator to University academic affairs, student affairs and student systems partners.

Responsibilities

  • Management and Supervision Hires, trains, supervises and evaluates one direct report, directly working with courses, class scheduling and academic progress records, according to University standards and processes. Ensures they liaise appropriately with relevant leadership for curriculum and records in the Office of the University Registrar, with other schools, and within the School to support curriculum goals, student access to courses and accurate progress toward degree completion.
  • Data Governance and Management In collaboration with University data governance efforts, promotes effective data usage and compliance through planning, policy and process; assists to develop, implement and oversee standards and processes for day-to-day operational and administrative management of student data within the School. Represents the school to University data governance leadership.
  • Verification of Degree Program Requirements Listings and Academic Requirements Documentation and Monitoring Ensures School content in the University Bulletin outlining all current programs, academic requirements, and pertinent policies for students pursuing programs at the School is accurate and meets University standards. Coordinates with School curriculum officials and academic leadership to ensure internal processes are aligned with deadlines and publication dates.
  • Technology Represents School to University student systems/IT community to communicate School needs and priorities and engages with systems growth and development. Collaborates closely with IT to support operations as appropriate.
  • Policy and Process Advises School leadership on policy and process development, striving for alignment with other schools’ practices whenever possible; engages with University partners in Student Affairs, other schools, student financials, and admissions; works closely with the Office of the University Registrar to ensure School practices are consistent with University guidelines; remains current with best practices and professional development.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
