About The Position

The Role: As the Nursing Director of Women & Children's Services for Providence St. Vincent Medical Center, you will hold accountability for the quality and provision of nursing services at the facility level, with a focus on strategic alignment with Regional and System goals. You will ensure a harmonious balance of optimal patient care, staff, patient, and physician satisfaction, and foster collaborative partnerships with organizational departments and professional groups. Your commitment to patient-centeredness and safety will be evident as you establish and uphold standards and systems for care delivery, promoting evidence-based practices while managing productivity amidst fluctuating patient volumes, acuity, and resources. You will champion the strategic vision and goals of the Oregon Nursing Center of Excellence while constructively managing change and endorsing a team-based approach. Major Challenges: Patient-Centric Decisions: Keep patients at the heart of all decision-making processes. Safety Assurance: Ensure the safety of both staff and patients. Communication Continuity: Maintain continuous communication to align strategic goals and priorities across the organization. Balance: Harmonize quality with financial outcomes in all nursing care delivery aspects. Change Management: Constructively handle constant change. Autonomy vs. Excellence: Balance organizational autonomy with clinical excellence through evidence-based practice. Technology Integration: Develop strategies for implementing technologies that support clinical practice. What You'll Do: Lead: Oversee departments such as the Mother/Baby Unit, Labor & Delivery (~4K births per year), Perinatal, NICU (Level III) and Pediatrics (12 inpatient beds). Establish a supportive environment, develop high-performance teams, ensure open communication, manage conflict constructively, inspire vision ownership, attract top talent, and embrace diversity. Integrate Mission and Values: Advocate for systemic changes to preserve Mission viability amid decreasing resources, role modeling Core Values, promoting hope, healing, and hospitality, and extending Mission and values to the wider community. Plan and Organize: Focus on top priorities, foresee future trends, create competitive strategies, eliminate barriers, and encourage creative approaches. Improve Quality: Champion patient and staff safety, reduce errors through evidence-based practices, promote nursing research, and plan for technology implementation supporting clinical practice. Demonstrate Business Effectiveness: Partner effectively across disciplines to support clinical goals, understand organizational dynamics, provide strategic leadership, assure compliance, participate actively in decision-making, and handle uncertainty with informed decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and Master's Degree in Nursing or related field.
  • Minimum of 6 years in progressive leadership roles, preferably in Women's Services.
  • Oregon Registered Nurse License upon hire.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, electronic communication systems, sound judgment, effective problem-solving, and communication skills for both formal presentations and interactions with various stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • National Certification from ANA or a relevant Professional Organization (Preferred).
