News12 has an exciting opportunity to share! We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to work on developing new programming and manage our News12 originals team.  This team produces cross-platform series, including our daily wellness show – BeWell, crime series – Crime Files, Revealed, Road Trip, On a Positive Note, and others. News12 originals is the award-winning production team creating innovative programming across our 7 local channels and regional OTT platform, News12NY. The successful candidate will be an outstanding storyteller with a proven track record of driving successful show project outcomes and possess the ability to work cross-functionally with various teams and stakeholders.  This is a leadership position that requires exceptional team management, organizational, analytical, and communication skills.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Media, Communications or related field
• 12+ years of experience in news programming production, with proven experience in both live and long-form storytelling
• Minimum of 3 years in a leadership role
• Strong editorial judgement with outstanding storytelling and writing skills
• Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve project objectives
• Strong understanding of character-driven narrative and story arc; enjoys and excels at program and story development as much as full-swing production and working with producing teams to build inspiring and outstanding shows
• Possesses both big-picture and forward-thinking attitude
• Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities with a focus on results and continuous improvement
• Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize, manage, and deliver multiple projects simultaneously and within budget; Proven experience in managing and delivering complex projects with multiple stakeholders
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively present information to stakeholders at all levels
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with diverse teams
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to gather and interpret data to drive project decisions
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, adapting to changing priorities and deadlines
• Experience working in cross-functional teams and managing stakeholders at all levels of the organization
• Must have a personal vehicle, a clean and valid driver’s license, and be able to travel between Bethpage (Long Island) and the Bronx

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the SVP of News and Original programming to ideate and develop programming, write editorial treatments and outlines, and assist with overall advance planning for shows for broadcast, digital and streaming audiences.
• Plan and execute News12 original programming from initiation to completion, ensuring on-time delivery and meeting budget and quality standards.
• Lead a team of producers, editors, and cameras to create and execute unique, compelling content.
• Monitor and track project progress, providing regular updates to senior management and stakeholders, in addition to feedback to the staff.
• Manage project budgets, resources, and timelines, adjusting as necessary to ensure successful project outcomes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project scope, deliverables, and milestones.
• Foster effective communication and collaboration among team members and stakeholders to ensure project success.
• Ensure editorial and production values of news programming meet News12’s high standards in news and storytelling to drive viewership, grow the audience, and strengthen the brand.
