The Director, Mission Advancement is a pivotal role within Best Buddies International, a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). This position is responsible for building a robust volunteer infrastructure across the state and its incubation regions, which is essential for the success of the organization’s mission. The Director will develop and implement state events that not only raise awareness but also secure vital funding through foundations and grants. Additionally, the role involves managing local advisory boards and associated committees, ensuring that they are effectively contributing to the organization’s goals. In this capacity, the Director will work closely with state program teams to support local programmatic needs, facilitating the introduction of new chapter leads or employer partners to the appropriate program support. The Director will also be tasked with developing a comprehensive statewide strategy for securing sustainable funding, which includes overseeing all fundraising activities such as foundation and corporate giving, individual donations, major gifts, special events, and alumni/parent relations. This multifaceted role requires a strong ability to identify, cultivate, and develop volunteers who can actively participate in the solicitation process on behalf of Best Buddies. Moreover, the Director will play a crucial role in marketing efforts by developing a statewide public awareness strategy and working with volunteers to implement it. This includes creating a strong local presence through public speaking engagements, community involvement, and various media initiatives. The Director will also be responsible for managing state social media pages and contributing to the organization of content for the state website and newsletters. As the organization grows, the Director will recruit, train, and supervise program and development staff, ensuring that the team is well-equipped to meet the increasing demands of the role. Maintaining communication with the State Director and overseeing the accurate processing of all revenue and invoices are also key responsibilities of this position.
