About The Position

The Director of Military and Veteran Services at Kutztown University is responsible for managing and implementing programs and services tailored to meet the needs of veteran and military-affiliated students. This role involves overseeing the university's military and veteran center, maintaining relationships with the Department of Veterans Administration, and providing support to students throughout their college careers. The Director serves as an advocate for veteran and active military students, coordinating workshops and programs to enhance their campus experience and improve the overall campus climate for these populations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree
• Ability to handle complex, sensitive, and confidential issues
• Strong organizational skills
• Experience with budget management
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to conduct research and analysis of data and prepare reports
• Fluent with office technology and computer programs, including Microsoft 365 Office Suite
• Ability to manage an active, student-centered office
• Demonstrated critical thinking, initiative, and ability to work independently
• Cultural competency in working with diverse populations.

Nice To Haves

• Master's Degree
• Military experience or experience in a military-serving office/department
• Experience with assessment of programs, events, and initiatives
• 5 or more years of higher education/student affairs experience
• Knowledge of webpage management and university online operations.

Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Kutztown University Veterans Center.
• Review and collaborate with other university offices to maintain accuracy on veteran affairs topics.
• Provide liaison services for veteran and active military students with administration and faculty.
• Maintain understanding of regulatory, compliance, and legislative changes related to services.
• Assist students in seeking campus-based resources in all matters.
• Produce, coordinate, and schedule workshops and programs for veteran and military students.
