About The Position

The Director of Metalworking leads a team that provides fabrication and production operation expertise to Grainger sellers and customers, helping to grow metalworking product and service revenue. Develops and executes a comprehensive Metalworking strategy using market insights, customer feedback, and supplier relationships. Collaborates cross-functionally with sales, internal and external business partners, and supplier management to design product and service offerings, engage customers, and maintain strategic supplier partnerships.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) experience
  • Metalworking industry knowledge
  • Experience developing Metalworking customer business cases with identified return
  • Experience managing profit & loss statement for a business segment
  • Experience in promoting excellence by guiding, inspiring, and enabling others to succeed
  • Experience in building relationships and influencing at all levels of the organization

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with leadership in the strategic planning of the annual forecast, as well as monitoring against variances and controlling the budget, create goals, coverage, development programs and coverage across the Metalworking organization.
  • Be Accountable for managing the metalworking market by leading the activities of the team, including the development and execution of strategic plans to achieve financial targets.
  • Provide operating performance guidance and projections based upon internal business performance metrics for the metalworking offer, as well as identifying and tracking industry leading indicators, as well as creating and evaluating talent on KPIs and business goals.
  • Identify the prioritization of customer segments with which to build the metalworking strategic plan and partner with Metalworking team and Sales team to implement tactics, resolve escalated issues, and expand sales potential to penetrate market share.
  • Oversee a cross-functional team of internal business partners to experiment, develop, and implement solutions that resolve customer issues, while playing an integral role in the strategic planning of the metalworking program—driving business performance metrics, managing vendor partner relationships, and supporting Metalworking Specialist sales and returns.
  • Supervise the development and execution of Metalworking strategies to drive profitable incremental revenue and market share growth by clearly articulating the metalworking customer value proposition—including products, services, pricing recommendations, coverage, and tailored solutions.
