About The Position

The Director of Mergers & Acquisitions is responsible for identifying and analyzing potential acquisition candidates overseeing financial modeling coordinating the negotiation and execution of selected transactions driving acquisitions to completion and partnering with senior leadership across the company to ensure integration efforts are successful.

Requirements

  • Detailed knowledge and history of the ECM markets with solid understanding of industry players
  • Ability to coordinate and keep aligned various cross-departmental groups
  • Possession of excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to constructively discuss and gain consensus on critical topics
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the principal duties of the job
  • Travel as required by the position up to 40% at peak times

Responsibilities

  • Monitor industry activities and develop recommendations of potential M&A opportunities to senior leadership. Maintain a target company pipeline that includes two or more active options at all times
  • Oversee and review the design, build, execution and explanation of financial models and other analytical work projects. Make recommendations based upon these analyses. Prepare presentation to the Board of Directors summarizing the potential acquisition candidate and associated financial model
  • Lead and coordinate all aspects of acquisitions, from inception through due diligence, valuation, negotiation, closing and integration, and coordinate internal approval and communication processes for completion of a transaction. Coordinate the purchase agreement process, working with and keeping relevant parties informed on progress and points that need input from executives and the target company
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams necessary for successful due diligence review. Aggregate open items and concerns for further review, analysis and discussion through to resolution
  • Understand and monitor acquisition performance to create a cycle of continuous learning, and coordinate with due diligence and integration teams to ensure successful acquisitions
  • Coordinate all 'day one' activities when acquiring a company, including outbound communications
  • Immediately discuss with senior leadership any concerns about a current integration approach at an acquired company along with recommended solutions
  • Conduct post-mortems on deals (including deals that do not materialize) in order to determine areas of improvement
  • Prepare acquisition updates for use in the monthly Board of Directors meeting package
