About The Position

Overview Director, Member Power Supply Services Sponsorship for Work Authorization Not Available. Manage Cooperative Energy Inc. (CEI)’s responsibilities for load forecasting, energy planning, wholesale power cost budgeting, and scenario analysis. Lead the development and maintenance of complex modelling used for evaluation of wholesale power contracts including capacity, energy, and operational requirements. Lead the development of Wholesale Power Cost budgets, forecasts, and variance reports. Create routine and ad hoc financial, operational, and power supply related reports for internal and external purposes. Support front office staff with the maintenance of data and report development, as required.

Requirements

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Detailed-oriented.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of electric member cooperatives.
  • Knowledge of energy markets.
  • Experience with forecast models and database use.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Advanced analytical skills and the ability to draw conclusions from data.
  • Strong business acumen, experience bringing insightful commentary regarding analysis and results, and recognition of trends.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, training, and development skills.
  • 4-year degree (Finance, business, engineering or energy related a plus).
  • 5-7 years in developing data driven analysis and strategic driven modeling.
  • 2-4 years of supervisory experience.
  • Electric Utility experience is desired.

  • Ability to work with databases and SQL preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of annual and 10-year Wholesale Power Cost forecasts for each CEI Member.
  • Responsible for internal generation resource dispatch model.
  • Maintain and update fixed cost and variable cost inputs.
  • Create and review load forecasts for CEI Members.
  • Design and maintain modeling for ongoing Wholesale Power Cost updates.
  • Support CEI Members’ retail rate analysis
  • Lead the development of modeling and analysis of the organization’s future power supply alternatives.
  • Identify and research power supply options from regional market participants.
  • Forecast associated costs
  • Assess operational and cost impact on current resources.
  • Analyze and recommend power supply options made available from Oglethorpe Power, Green Power, and other key power suppliers.

  • Recommend appropriate level of participation by Members, if any, for each option.
  • Support commercial operations with data and analysis.
  • Validate and utilize data from generation resource dispatch model.
  • Monitor price trends and associated impact on expected future power supply.
  • Lead the efforts to complete data modeling and analysis, scenario analysis, and ad hoc reporting to support commercial operations, Member requests, and senior management requests.
  • Coordinate with database manager to develop necessary programming to achieve company wholesale power cost modeling goals and objectives.
  • Lead the preparation of customized end of the month reports and manage data capture initiatives.
  • Actual power costs vs. budgeted with variance analysis.
  • Detailed cost and data reporting by Member.
  • Support procurement efforts to meet the power supply needs of Members, including the preparation of solicitations/requests for offers of energy and capacity products, supplier/developer communications, analytical support during proposal/bid evaluation and contract negotiations.
