About The Position

The Director, Medical Affairs Strategy for Women's Health at Sumitomo Pharma will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of the Medical Affairs team. This position is responsible for leading initiatives that address unmet medical needs in Women's Health, particularly focusing on conditions such as Endometriosis and Uterine Fibroids. The role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams, managing alliances, and ensuring that Medical Affairs activities align with patient-focused programs and commercial strategies.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in medical science (MD, PharmD, PhD); MD with relevant specialization preferred.
  • 8+ years of relevant Medical Affairs work experience in biotech or pharmaceutical industry.
  • Experience leading in a matrix team environment is a plus.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and database management.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Women's Health medicine.
  • Familiarity with Key Performance Indicators.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and align Medical Affairs strategic plans with brand strategic imperatives.
  • Serve as a Medical Strategy lead for the Pfizer alliance for Women's Health.
  • Oversee the strategy and development of Medical Affairs plans for relugolix combination therapy.
  • Develop the Medical Strategy Team within the US to provide medical training and evaluation.
  • Ensure cross-functional medical alignment with various teams including US Field Medical and Medical Communications.
  • Direct the implementation of multi-modal medical education plans.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of scientific Publication Plans & Medical Advisory Board Plan.
  • Engage with the medical/scientific community to build relationships with key opinion leaders.
  • Collaborate with the commercial organization to align medical perspectives with commercial strategies.
  • Partner with Research & Development for ongoing and post-marketing activities.
  • Attend relevant medical and scientific conferences to support communication goals.
  • Provide strategy and oversight for the US Investigator Initiated Study program.
  • Ensure medical review and approval of external resources and communications.
  • Develop and oversee Medical Affairs annual operating budget.
