About The Position

The Director, Media Relations and Strategic Communications is responsible for managing and overseeing media relations and strategic communications for the Eleventh Federal Reserve District. This role serves as a trusted advisor on strategic communications issues to the Bank president and senior management, while also acting as a public spokesperson for the Bank. The position involves developing and implementing integrated communications strategies to enhance and protect the Bank's reputation, as well as managing complex strategic communications projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, public relations, public policy, English or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in journalism, strategic communications, corporate communications, or media relations.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement integrated strategic communications plans.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects under deadline pressures.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate degree preferred.
  • Federal Reserve experience preferred.
  • Economic expertise and background in economic or financial policy.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee media relations and strategic communications for the Eleventh Federal Reserve District.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor on strategic communications issues to the Bank president and senior management.
  • Develop and implement integrated communications strategies that enhance and protect the Bank's reputation.
  • Act as a public spokesperson for the Bank alongside the Vice President of Communications.
  • Provide day-to-day oversight of staff and coordinate workflow with the Communications team.
  • Build constructive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including media.
  • Drive appropriate coverage of the Dallas Fed and policy activity through proactive media relationship management.
  • Manage complex strategic communications projects and initiatives in collaboration with other teams.
  • Stay abreast of current trends and best practices in strategic communications.
