About The Position

The Director of Med Surg provides strategic and operational leadership to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care while meeting clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical standards. This role oversees departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information systems, service levels, and complaint resolution, to achieve performance and quality outcomes. The Director is responsible for workforce planning and management—recruitment, onboarding, performance evaluation, corrective action, and ongoing education—while fostering a culture of professional growth and development. Additionally, the Director manages departmental budgeting and financial performance, ensures compliance with allocated resources, coordinates internal and external audits, and integrates evidence-based practices into clinical and operational protocols to support continuous improvement and excellence in care.

Requirements

  • Current state RN license
  • Associate’s degree from an accredited nursing school
  • BLS certification is required within 30 days of hire
  • Med Surg/Telemetry Experience required
  • Must have at least five years’ experience in Nursing with at least three years as a Director/Manager
  • Previous Director level experience preferred

  • Prefer previous Director level experience
