The Admissions and Financial Aid department for the Stanford Graduate School of Business seeks a Director of Marketing. The Director will oversee management of prospective student marketing and branding efforts for the two-year MBA and one-year MSx programs. The Director will also create forward-looking marketing strategy and programs to engage with and educate prospective students at scale, working with senior leaders on the GSB Admissions team and with cross-functional partners across the GSB in these efforts. This role reports into the Assistant Dean of the GSB Admissions and Financial Aid team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to revolutionize the way prospective students discover and interact with Stanford GSB. By implementing world-class marketing and branding strategies, you will help us reach and engage new audiences of high potential leaders, while advancing GSB's mission of developing innovative, principled, and insightful leaders who change lives, change organizations and change the world.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and eight years relevant experience or a combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated marketing management skills and the ability to work effectively with decision-makers across many levels of an organization.
  • Extensive knowledge of strategic analysis, customer segmentation strategies and business and marketing planning.
  • Proven track record with branding, integrated marketing strategy, messaging and positioning.
  • Highly detail oriented with strong ability to understand constituent needs and lead teams toward a common goal.
  • Strategic thinking and leadership skills.
  • Excellent project manager with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience presenting to senior management.
  • Ability to motivate, develop and train staff.
  • Prior experience in planning and managing budgets.
  • Ability to work a hybrid schedule, with minimum two days a week in office.
  • Ability to work occasionally evenings and weekends.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree; MBA is preferred.
  • Experience working in talent branding or recruitment marketing is a plus.
  • Experience working in and demonstrated passion for higher education is also a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead marketing and brand strategy to systemically reach high potential talent pools across industries and geographies.
  • Develop new content marketing programs to tailor and target content to relevant talent pools using new and existing channels.
  • Create and lead alumni and student engagement programs to inspire and scale content creation.
  • Lead team and manage external vendors and GSB stakeholders to maintain and optimize brand messaging.
  • Spearhead and oversee efforts to develop clear MSx value proposition and develop custom strategy for rolling out and amplifying its message.
  • Lead team to oversee multiple channels including prospect-facing websites and portals, admitted-student websites and portals, paid and organic social media, digital marketing email campaigns and newsletters.
  • Manage lead gen efforts, including managing external agencies and ad spend.
  • Work with internal Admissions leaders to maintain consistency and reach of our brand and key messaging.
  • Oversee benchmarking of our marketing practices with others in our industry.
  • Wire organization with metrics and KPIs to measure talent pool health.
  • Oversee team to analyze and optimize our tools, content and channels.
  • Maintain strong relationships with other teams within GSB Admissions.
  • Oversee PR and media efforts, and participate in industry rankings.
  • Maintain strong relationships across the GSB including with the central Communications & Marketing team.
  • Responsibility for staff including the recruitment, management, development, and retention of staff.
  • Set marketing budget, goals, and objectives in alignment with organizational goals.
