The Director – Marketing & Communications is responsible for development, implementation, growth, and direction of Dayton Live’s marketing and communications efforts. The director develops and oversees the organization’s marketing and communication properties and strategies (including website and content management; digital, TV, radio, print, and outdoor ad buys; email marketing; social media; external public and media relations; marketing automation; etc.) and counsels internal and external clients to maximize reach and response to achieve their goals. The Director supervises the Manager – Social Media & Public Relations.

  • Supervise Manager – Social Media & Public Relations and help determine additional staffing needs for department.
  • Assist in creating and implementing a marketing and communications roadmap and strategy across the organization by keeping apprised of and implementing industry-recommended best practices.
  • Create, budget, execute, and analyze marketing campaigns (including digital, TV, radio, print, and outdoor advertising) for series, events, programs, shows, and the organization.
  • Serves as media planner and buyer for traditional and digital advertising, manages annual media partnership trade agreements, and builds and analyzes digital campaigns on Meta and Google platforms.
  • Direct public and media relations efforts in tandem with social media initiatives.
  • Direct design, development, and maintenance of company website in partnership with the Dayton Live Ticket Office. This includes daily updates and major seasonal changes as well as redesigns and added features.
  • Create email marketing and marketing automations including reminders, special offers, know before you go, and feedback emails associated with programming sold via Dayton Live.
  • Create monthly reports demonstrating the effectiveness of Dayton Live’s marketing and communications strategy.
  • Provide support to multiple internal clients (Development, Education, Operations, Programming, Ticketing) to assist with their goals.
  • Direct social media strategies and policies for the company as a whole.
  • Direct curation of video content for digital marketing, website, and social media.
  • Work with Dayton Live Ticket Office to determine ticket on sale schedules.
  • Manage and meet deadlines and quality expectations for all projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, public relations, marketing, communications, or related field required.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience creating, budgeting, executing, and analyzing marketing campaigns (including digital, TV, radio, print, and outdoor advertising); social media campaign management; and email marketing platforms required.
  • Strong working knowledge of content management systems and familiarity with CRM software.
  • Experience working with digital marketing, social platforms, and data analytics programs required.
  • Ability to prioritize competing demands for resources to provide quality service to internal and external clients.
  • Creativity and problem-solving skills needed to create innovative content across various marketing platforms.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate across organizational departments.
  • Ability to remain creative and adaptable in the face of changing priorities and a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to work effectively with a variety of personalities and successfully communicate with all levels inside the organization and outside clientele.
  • Must be able to excel in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills; interpersonal skills; project management, planning and organizational skills.
  • Requires a willingness to work a flexible schedule and requires occasional weekend and/or evening work.
  • Working conditions are normal for an office environment.
  • Experience with data analysis and custom marketing campaigns strongly preferred.
  • Experience with not-for-profit and/or arts/entertainment management a plus.
  • Experience with supervising, scheduling, and coordinating support staff and contract employees preferred.
  • Video production experience strongly recommended.
