Location: South San Francisco, CA. Position Summary: We are seeking a Director of Market Research and Competitive Intelligence to join IDEAYA’s Commercial Operations team. The Director of Market Research and Competitive Intelligence is responsible for the development and management of the market research and competitive intelligence functions. This individual will be a crucial strategic partner to key internal stakeholders throughout the organization. This leader will utilize their extensive U.S. oncology and launch experience with an initial focus on launch readiness and commercialization on our lead program darovasertib in metastatic Uveal Melanoma [mUM]. Furthermore, this position will have an increasingly important role in developing insights to support our burgeoning pipeline of numerous first-in-class assets within several oncology disease areas. This position reports to the Vice President, Commercial Operations, Analytics & Insights. While this will initially be an individual contributor role, this position is expected to evolve into a team lead with 1-3 direct reports within two years. This position is based in our South San Francisco headquarter office and required to be onsite four days per week per our company policy.

Requirements

  • BS/BA degree in related discipline and at least 7 years of related experience
  • Experience in Biotech/Pharmaceutical oncology and primary market research is required
  • Proven ability to lead in the continuous assessment of a company’s commercial objectives and strategy
  • Extensive knowledge of qualitative and quantitative market research methods
  • Ability to review and process information from multiple sources, including situations requiring comfort with ambiguity
  • Ability to maintain up-to-date knowledge of company’s competitive positioning in the marketplace
  • Actively follows economic and industry trends and understands their implications on the company
  • Effective presentation and communication skills
  • Excellent organizational, project management and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-evolving environment
  • Demonstrated strategic agility with a proven ability to “scenario plan”
  • Understanding of key intelligence needs and appropriate resources (databases, medical congresses, primary/secondary research, etc.) to inform information gaps
  • Proficiency with Office products (Excel, PPT) and database sources (e.g. clinicaltrials.gov) is required
  • This position requires you to be fully vaccinated from COVID-19, subject to reasonable accommodations for medical or religious reasons, and/or as otherwise required by applicable law.   • Experience with product launches is preferred
  • Experience in rare disease is a plus
  • Experience with primary intelligence and secondary data sources is highly desirable
  • Previous life cycle management and new product evaluation experience highly desirable

Responsibilities

  • Designing primary market research plan with HCPs, patients and other stakeholders to gather and share actionable insights
  • Lead and support analytics to generate and triangulate insights across data sources, including primary market research, secondary literature and other data sources, as available
  • Translate data and information into compelling insights and recommendations.
  • Effectively communicate insights and lead meetings with commercial leaders and other cross functional business partners
  • Strengthen market research best practices, identify market research and data sources, vendor options, and methodologies that are best suited to address business needs
  • Consistently and effectively communicates with key stakeholders to inform on timely alerts (e.g. clinical data releases, product approvals/failures, regulatory updates) and commercial landscape updates of key competitors and disease areas
  • Cover competitor earnings and key investor calls, providing summaries of key metrics and implications in a timely manner
  • Leads competitive intelligence planning for key conferences (e.g. ASCO, ESMO) with input from internal stakeholders and/or third party agency; drives working team preparedness and communicates pre-, on-site, and post-conference coverage outputs
