About The Position

Your Opportunity Schwab Advisor Services (AS), a division of Charles Schwab & Co., Inc. (Schwab) is the leading provider of custody, trading, technology, and practice management to registered independent advisory firms (RIAs). We provide access to sophisticated wealth services that help advisors attract and retain affluent clients, as well as profitably grow, compete, and succeed in their business efforts. The AS Wealth Services Experience Team is responsible for supporting and influencing our portfolio of wealth-management-related products and offers, including investment-focused, banking and lending and trading products and services. Our goal is to ensure the products, services and offers developed by these key Schwab product teams align with the strategic objectives of the AS business and addresses the needs of the RIAs we serve as well as their end-clients. The team is responsible for developing and maintaining a strategic vision and roadmap for wealth-management-related offers on behalf of the AS organization. To be successful the Director, Managed Investing, Wealth Services Experience needs to understand and be familiar with separately managed accounts, managed models, unified managed accounts and households (UMA and UMH), and the money manager/advisor dynamic. In this role, you will effectively partner with and influence product development, digital and strategy teams outside of the AS organization, as well as work within AS to navigate various support teams. You will seek to partner with these teams to deliver client experience-related initiatives and overall product support while maintaining an optimal advisor and end-client experience. For these products, you will play an active role in defining the roadmap to launch and drive adoption and education of each offer, support ongoing maintenance, and demonstrate ownership over the AS client experience with the Managed Investing shelf of products. Key Contributions: As an individual contributor Director, you'll manage and own the Managed Investing experience in Advisor Services. Work collaboratively across multiple stakeholders to develop and deliver a cohesive vision, experience and roadmap for the Advisor Services managed suite of platforms, including Managed Account Select, Access and Marketplace, Model Market Center and Schwab Personalized Indexing as well as UMA/UMH and overlay manager/tax management capabilities within these platforms. As SME, become an expert in the needs, expectations and pain points of managed investing and the associated platforms. Assess the competitive environment, industry trends, current strengths and gaps. Help develop a foundational understanding and long-term strategic view of potential product/offer development opportunities in conjunction with our product partners in Wealth & Advice Solutions, Strategy, Digital and other key stakeholder teams. Partner on AS business goals and product related strategic viewpoints with product partners across the Schwab organization. Work with vendors or third parties who may be partnering with Schwab to provide capabilities advisors desire and that could drive economic benefit to Schwab. Deeply understand the needs of AS clients and champion those needs across the broader organization. Participate in or drive client/market research initiatives on specific product/offer development opportunities to bring the voice of the client closer to the business. We believe in the importance of in-office collaboration and fully intend for the selected candidate for this role to work on site in the specified location.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience: 10+ years of direct experience in working with investment advisors, preferably RIAs, with a deep understanding of the intersection between wealth management products and advisors offering them.
  • Knowledge of Schwab's and/or other managed platforms within the managed investing space, including separately managed accounts, models, UMA/UMH and/or direct indexing.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills : with the ability to develop actionable recommendations and execution plans.
  • Proactive mindset : Demonstrated initiative in gathering insights, understanding business priorities, and driving solutions.
  • Strong written, verbal and influencing skills : to serve as a strong advocate for advisors and their end-clients across multiple stakeholders at Schwab and with external vendors.
  • Relationship building: Proven ability to create and leverage internal networks to drive platform initiatives.
  • Ability to work in both a strategic and executional capacity with ability to prioritize effectively and manage stakeholders in a fast-paced and matrixed environment.
