About The Position

The Director, Legal Counsel at AXS is responsible for managing the legal needs of the company, which includes drafting and negotiating a variety of business agreements related to ticketing, providing legal support and advice to various departments, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This role requires a strong understanding of contract and corporate law, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with senior management and outside counsel.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Jurisprudence (JD) from an ABA accredited law school.
  • California bar membership preferred.
  • 4-6 years of experience with a major law firm and/or in-house legal department.
  • Concrete understanding of contract and corporate law and business transactional principles.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with various contacts.
  • Strong judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn required business systems.
  • High level of personal integrity and professional ethics.
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing business conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Paralegal License to practice law in California.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and manage legal services for AXS.
  • Serve as legal advisor to General Counsel, Legal Department staff, senior management, and division heads.
  • Prepare, review, and assist in negotiations on all varieties of legal documents including commercial contracts and ticketing services agreements.
  • Provide analysis and guidance on strategic projects and deals.
  • Work closely with individual departments to manage liability areas and legal exposure.
  • Review and understand all corporate documents and major client and partner agreements.
  • Interpret, draft/revise and administer guidance related to event ticketing legislation.
  • Work with outside counsel on matters requiring representation such as litigation and disputes.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Advise in the areas of corporate governance, employment practices, and general business compliance.
  • Keep current on industry-wide legal trends and developments.
  • Participate in special projects as requested.
