About The Position

The Director of Leasing at Simon Property Group is responsible for cultivating and maintaining relationships with prospective tenants, executing leasing strategies, and negotiating lease terms to maximize returns for the company. This role requires a deep understanding of the retail industry, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various departments to ensure successful tenant openings.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree
• 5+ years of retail leasing/selling experience
• In-depth knowledge of merchandising
• In-depth knowledge of deal structures and lease terminology
• Excellent negotiation and closing skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Well established relationships with fashion/luxury brands.

Responsibilities

• Cultivates new and maintains existing relationships with prospective tenants.
• Leases new space and develops aggressive leasing strategies including re-tenanting and renewals.
• Qualifies potential tenants by reviewing financial statements and checking references.
• Negotiates lease terms on behalf of SPG for maximum return to the Owners.
• Communicates with the Legal department to prepare documentation for leases.
• Coordinates with Tenant Improvement and Development groups to ensure timely openings.
• Evaluates retailers for desirability as tenants in SPG centers.
• Attends leasing conventions and industry events to represent SPG and attract potential tenants.
• Maintains up-to-date knowledge of retail industry trends.
