About The Position

The Director of Learning and Organizational Development at MSC Industrial Supply Co. is responsible for leading the design, implementation, and evaluation of comprehensive learning and development programs. This strategic role focuses on developing talent and driving organizational growth through effective learning initiatives, requiring a dynamic leader with a strong sense of ownership and a solution-oriented attitude.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Education, Learning & Organizational Development, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in learning and development, with 3-5 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong business acumen and customer focus.
  • Proven ability to design and implement effective learning programs.
  • Experience assessing, designing, and developing field sales learning journeys.
  • Aptitude for partnering effectively and building strong relationships with credibility and trust, with team members and internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in learning management systems (LMS) and e-learning platforms.
  • Well-versed in adult learning theory, learning technologies, and multiple modes of delivery.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with and influence key stakeholders, HR and business leaders.
  • Negotiation skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including facilitation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience with business operating systems and/or lean methodologies.

  • Master's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with senior leadership and department heads to identify learning needs and ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Develop and execute a long-term and short-term learning and development plan aligned with organizational goals.
  • Design and implement innovative learning programs, including leadership development, technical training, and soft skills enhancement.
  • Lead and mentor a team of learning and development professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Establish metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of learning programs and make data-driven improvements.
  • Oversee the learning and development budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources, and manage all external partnerships.
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices to continuously enhance learning initiatives.
  • Apply a data-driven approach to measuring the effectiveness of learning and development programs and continuously iterate to improve results.
