About The Position

The Director, Leadership Development develops, implements and manages innovative programs that align with the University's mission and strategic goals by enhancing and building leadership capabilities. The Director, Leadership Development works closely with senior business and Human Resources leaders to ensure that leadership development initiatives support the overall business strategy and enhance organizational performance. The individual identifies leadership needs through comprehensive needs assessments, designs skill development programs that elevate leader effectiveness and contributes to a culture of continuous learning. The individual leverages the latest research in learning sciences and technology to create state-of-the-art leadership development initiatives and oversees delivery of impactful training experiences, ensuring the highest standards of excellence through feedback and performance metrics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Organizational Development, Human Resources, or a related field
  • Five (5) years of progressive leadership and Talent Development experience in a fast-paced, growth organization

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in Learning and Development, Talent Management, Human Resources or other related field
  • Certification in Predictive Index, DiSC, Core Strengths (SDI 2.0) and/or other behavioral assessments
  • Proven track record of designing and implementing successful development programs for all levels of leadership (new leader through executive)
  • Extensive experience in learning sciences and the ability to apply these principles to leadership development
  • Strong strategic thinking and project management skills to take concepts and turn them into development initiatives
  • Executive presence and the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with senior leaders and stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Hands on experience developing leadership development curriculum
  • Proficiency in using learning management systems (LMS) and other relevant technologies

Responsibilities

  • Partner with HR and business leaders, as well as executive leadership, to gain their perspectives on the leadership development needs across the University; conduct needs assessments to identify specific gaps and build strategies to address these needs.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive plans for leadership development initiatives that enhance and build effective capabilities from new leaders through executive levels of the University.
  • Oversee the creation and deployment of learning programs including curriculum design, development of materials and classroom facilitation.
  • Utilize the latest research in learning, technology and behavioral assessments to create cutting-edge programs. Incorporate insights from learning sciences, feedback, performance results and business metrics, to enhance the effectiveness of programming.
  • Act as a change agent, fostering a culture of collaboration and enthusiasm among business leaders to drive the development of future organizational leaders.
  • Select, mentor, coach and evaluate staff; establish and monitor appropriate employee performance objectives; prepare and present employee performance discussions, including one-on-one meetings and quarterly check-ins; implement mentoring and coaching plans, or correction action, where appropriate.
