About The Position

Simon Wiesenthal Center (SWC) is a global Jewish human rights organization that confronts antisemitism and hate, defends the safety of Israel and Jews worldwide, and teaches the lessons of the Holocaust through awareness, advocacy, justice, education, and its Museums of Tolerance. With a constituency of over 400,000 member families since its founding in 1977, the SWC has an international footprint through its Museums of Tolerance , Moriah Films , and the Digital Terrorism + Hate Project. Headquartered in Los Angeles, it maintains operations in New York, Chicago, Miami, Toronto, Paris, Berlin, Jerusalem, and Buenos Aires. It is an accredited Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) at the United Nations, UNESCO, the Organization of American States, the Latin American Parliament, and the Council of Europe and maintains relationships with the highest levels of governments throughout the world. In 1993, the Center opened the Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles to worldwide acclaim. The Museum has served as the Center’s flagship educational arm, challenging visitors to confront bigotry and racism, and to understand the Holocaust in both historical and contemporary contexts. In addition, the Center developed Moriah Media to produce theatrical documentaries to educate global audiences. Moriah has produced 17 documentaries to date, two of which have received the Academy Award for best feature documentary, The Long Way Home and Genocide. The Museum of Tolerance Education Department (MOT EDU) is seeking a seasoned, values-driven Director, Law Enforcement & Adult Learning to lead the execution, quality, and continuous improvement of its California-based adult professional learning initiatives. This role provides senior leadership for The Tolerance Project, which delivers museum-based, dialogue-driven professional learning for educators, law enforcement/public safety professionals, and other adult learners. Grounded in history, ethics, and human rights, these programs address urgent civic and social challenges with rigor, care, and respect for participant experience. Working closely with the Senior Director, National Strategy & Educational Partnerships, the Director ensures that high-quality local implementation also informs institutional learning, refinement, and future growth.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 + years of experience in education, museum education, adult professional learning, or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex, multi-layered teams through growth or change.
  • Proven ability to translate strategy into systems, workflows, and daily practice.
  • Experience facilitating dialogue with diverse adult audiences in complex civic or social contexts.
  • Ability to work credibly across sectors, including education and law enforcement/public safety.
  • Strong institutional presence; able to represent an organization with clarity, steadiness, and integrity.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting rebranding, repositioning, or organizational evolution is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership & Program Stewardship Lead and manage the full California-based Tolerance Project team, including Associate Directors, Program Managers, Event Manager, full-time facilitators, and external facilitators.
  • Establish clear structures, roles, expectations, and rhythms for planning, delivery, reflection, and improvement.
  • Support Associate Directors as senior operators and thought partners.
  • Foster a team culture grounded in trust, accountability, collaboration, and shared purpose.
  • Program Implementation, Quality & Care Oversee delivery of all California-based adult learning programs for educators and law enforcement/public safety professionals.
  • Ensure programs reflect MOT EDU’s dialogue-based pedagogy, intellectual rigor, and commitment to human rights education.
  • Support facilitators in navigating complex, high-stakes dialogue with professionalism and care.
  • Implement systems for participant feedback, evaluation, and continuous improvement.
  • Adult Learning Across Sectors Lead with credibility and humility in working with law enforcement/public safety professionals, recognizing the complexity and influence of these roles.
  • Ensure educator professional learning remains a core priority, serving both audiences with equal intention, respect, and excellence.
  • Maintain ethical, inclusive, and trauma-informed approaches across all learning environments.
  • Outreach, Partnerships & Institutional Voice Strengthen systems for outreach, promotion, and partner engagement across California-based programs.
  • Represent The Tolerance Project and MOT EDU externally through relationship-building and field engagement.
  • Support rebranding or repositioning efforts in alignment with MOT EDU’s established voice, values, and vision.
  • Learning, Evaluation & Growth Coordinate feedback loops and iterative refinement in partnership with the Senior Director.
  • Surface insights from program delivery to inform institutional learning and future expansion.
  • Balance innovation and growth with integrity of current program delivery.
  • Grant Execution & Operational Integrity Ensure grant-funded programs are executed with fidelity, accuracy, and care.
  • Support tracking deliverables, timelines, and budgets.
  • Identify risks or capacity challenges early and elevate as needed.
  • Approach grant stewardship as both a compliance and ethical responsibility.
