The Director of the Laser, Design, and Die (LDD) Division is responsible for overseeing manufacturing operations related to the production of the Peel-and-stick Nonskid Slip-Resistant tapes and treads used on naval ships, aircraft, military, and commercial facilities. This role requires knowledge of shipbuilding processes and procedures. The Director will lead a team of manufacturing professionals to ensure the efficient production of high-quality products, meeting project requirements and deadlines.

  • Develop and implement manufacturing strategies aligned with the company's goals and objectives for Nonskid projects.
  • Accomplish site surveys of potential design projects.
  • Establish and ensure the LDD division meets production goals including employee safety, production schedules and productivity, quality, delivery, and employee and customer satisfaction.
  • Lead the execution of manufacturing projects, coordinating activities across multiple departments to ensure timely completion and adherence to budgetary constraints.
  • Ensure raw materials are readily available and in adequate supply for product production.
  • Accountable for routine to complex troubleshooting and decision-making.
  • Continuously evaluate manufacturing processes and implement improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and maintain compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Maintain hands-on awareness of manufacturing processes, capabilities, and constraints to provide new ideas and suggestions to improve and maintain systems.
  • Establish and enforce quality measures to ensure that Nonskid products meet or exceed customer specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure that the quality of Nonskid products complies with internal and customer requirements.
  • Responsible for ensuring on-time delivery with maximum quality and efficiency.
  • Collaborate, cultivate, and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to communicate project progress and address concerns or issues.
  • Oversee relationships with suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring timely delivery of materials and components required for on-time deliveries.
  • Stay informed about industry regulations, standards, and best practices related to the shipbuilding industry, ensuring full compliance in manufacturing activities.
  • Represent Louisiana Association for the Blind (L.A.B.) at trade shows and in trade organizations to maximize L.A.B.’s impact and awareness.
  • Evaluate the results of trade shows and symposium meetings to establish product opportunities.
  • Ensure skilled and capable personnel are hired, trained, and assigned to appropriate positions.
  • Accomplish manufacturing results by communicating expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the manufacturing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Responsible for supervising the day-to-day operations of the facility.
  • Enforce company policies and rules.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred) or a minimum of five years of manufacturing supervisory experience.
  • Previous Navy military experience is helpful.
  • Understanding of military and government procurement processes and regulations.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading large-scale manufacturing projects, preferably in the defense or maritime industry.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
  • Must be able to pass a background check for access to military and federal installations.
  • Able to obtain and maintain security clearance, if required.
  • Frequent travel with multi-overnight stays that may include weekends.
