About The Position

The Director of Labs for Residential HVAC at Trane Technologies is a transformational executive role responsible for leading the Engineering Test Labs in Tyler, Texas. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • At least 10 years of experience in a Laboratory or new product development role.
  • Demonstrated project leadership and supervisory experience.
  • Excellent personal leadership and change management skills.
  • Strong collaboration abilities and customer-first mindset.
  • Familiarity with HVAC equipment, laboratory testing, workflow processes, and quality systems.
  • Ability to anticipate future trends and develop long-term plans aligned with organizational goals.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Proven problem-solving skills.
  • Passion for driving a sustainable organization.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the long-term operations of the Residential HVAC Engineering Lab, including strategic, budget, quality, safety, and continuous improvement responsibilities.
  • Drive safety awareness and initiatives to maintain a world-class safety record.
  • Manage multi-million dollar expense and capital budgets with monthly reviews and forecasts.
  • Increase employee engagement and nurture a winning culture among lab employees.
  • Align lab capabilities with future product needs and requirements.
  • Forecast and schedule test facility demand to ensure timely delivery of New Product Introductions (NPI).
  • Manage strategy, facilities, and safety of the model shop to support testing needs.
  • Drive talent development for over 50 associates, including performance and development reviews.
  • Foster a quality system to improve the lab's ability to produce valid results consistently.
  • Conduct annual human resources planning to ensure optimal organizational performance.
  • Track and report lab performance in cycle time reduction, test quality, and delivery performance.
  • Champion projects aimed at continuous improvement and performance measurement.
  • Deliver accurate lab test results to assist engineers in meeting reliability and product performance goals.
  • Develop and document standard lab test procedures.
