The Laboratory Director is responsible for the overall operations of the Medical Centers laboratories. This includes overseeing the quality, service, and cost of daily operations of the laboratories. The Laboratory Director also performs administrative duties to include overall financial, operational, and technical management. This role is crucial in ensuring that the laboratories operate efficiently and effectively, meeting all necessary standards and regulations. In this position, the Laboratory Director manages and oversees the operations of the laboratories, ensuring compliance with accreditation and regulatory requirements, including JCAHO, CMS, and CLIA. The director is responsible for ensuring that administrative and technical policies and procedures are followed and regularly reviewed. This includes developing laboratory budgets, capital equipment budgets, and seeking ways to reduce expenses without compromising quality or service. The Laboratory Director is also tasked with implementing new capital into clinical operations, thereby improving efficiencies and working closely with team members to provide effective solutions that support quality and business objectives. Collaboration is key in this role, as the Laboratory Director works closely with hospital administration, staff, and physicians in all patient care areas to assure optimal performance. The director oversees staff, providing direction and guidance, and administers director functions within the provisions of Gritman Medical Center policies, standards, and federal, state, and local regulations. Additionally, the Laboratory Director consults with the Laboratory Medical Director to resolve technical issues and recommends processes to correct problems, ensuring that the laboratory meets the highest standards of care and service.
