The Director of Laboratory Operations at Atrium Floyd is responsible for overseeing laboratory services within the hospitals and clinics. This role involves collaboration with pathologists and various administrative leadership teams to ensure that laboratory services effectively support clinical and safety initiatives. The director will align laboratory operations with corporate strategies and act as a liaison between hospital administration and laboratory leadership. Key responsibilities include planning and participating in strategic initiatives, managing budgets, implementing performance improvement processes, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The director will also be accountable for the accuracy of test results and efficient operations, while fostering innovation and team development.

  • Collaborates with pathologists and clinical/hospital service area Administrative Leadership.
  • Aligns with corporate strategies, initiatives, processes, and procedures.
  • Creates, plans, and actively participates in projects to meet strategic initiatives.
  • Develops, implements, and monitors budget compliance.
  • Analyzes laboratory fiscal needs and departmental performance.
  • Proposes Operating and Capital budgets and controls expenditures.
  • Identifies, develops, and implements performance improvement processes.
  • Develops and directs implementation of standards and systems to enhance quality.
  • Ensures operations and policies comply with local, state, and federal laws.
  • Accountable for the accuracy of test results and efficient operations.
  • Designs and directs the work of assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Selects, coaches, and develops teams to align with organizational strategy.
  • Responsible for understanding and adhering to the organization's Code of Ethical Conduct.
  • Bachelor's degree in clinical laboratory sciences, Medical Technology, or related field.
  • Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) certification or Medical Technologist (MT) certification.
  • Typically requires 5 years of experience in technical laboratory services and operations.
  • 3 years of leadership experience in management of staff, budgets, and multiple laboratory functions.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills including project management and decision making.
  • Ability to grow leaders through coaching and development planning.
  • Advanced knowledge of regulatory compliance and accrediting agency requirements.
  • Current knowledge of medical and technical advancements.
  • Intermediate computer skills including knowledge of laboratory information systems.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills.
