Works under the general direction of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) for the Community Health Improvement (CHI) Division. The Director of Data Analytics and Special Projects (DASP) provides oversight and strategic direction and planning for the DASP Section which includes data analytics, Information Technology (IT), Congenital Syphilis (CS) surveillance and prevention and other special projects for the division and the agency. Work involves establishing strategic plans, goals, and objectives for each program area; developing policies and procedures, reviewing and interpreting guidelines; establishing priorities, coordinating and evaluating program activities; and reviewing and approving budgets. Provides oversight and direction of implementation, supervision, and monitoring of all operational activities of the Section, ensuring optimal day-to-day performance of essential Section business functions. Supervises and provides daily oversight to Section office staff and briefs the Deputy Commissioner on risks/issues. Works under minimal supervision and has wide latitude for independent judgment, decision-making and direction of activities. Also oversees special projects assigned to the division, including new grants, programs, and strategic planning. Participates and leads cross-functional teams and workgroups and attends meetings on behalf of the Deputy Commissioner and Division. Supervises and provides daily oversight of direct reports. Works under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement. To perform these job duties, this position may require working extra hours needed to meet defined deadlines and support the agency’s mission critical reporting requirements.
