About The Position

Accanto Health is seeking a Director, IT Program Management Office (PMO) to build and lead a high-impact PMO function that enables predictable, transparent, and value-driven delivery of technology initiatives across the enterprise. This leader will establish portfolio governance, standardize project delivery, and partner closely with IT and business leaders to ensure technology investments align with organizational strategy, regulatory requirements, and growth objectives. This role is responsible for standing up the IT PMO from the ground up and evolving it as Accanto scales—bringing rigor, clarity, and accountability to infrastructure, application, and technology-enabled business initiatives in a regulated healthcare environment. The Director, IT Program Management Office (PMO) is accountable for how technology initiatives are governed, prioritized, funded, and delivered across the enterprise. The Director, IT PMO ensures disciplined execution, transparency, and predictable outcomes across application, infrastructure, and business technology initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in IT program or portfolio management.
  • 5+ years ina leadership role.
  • Experience building or transforming a PMO.
  • Experience in healthcare or other regulated environments.
  • Strong executive communication and stakeholder management skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree desired(MBA, MHA, or similar).
  • PMP,PgMP,SAFe, or similar certification.
  • Experience with enterprise system implementations or digital transformation.
  • Familiarity with portfolio and IT service management tools.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and Lead the IT PMO Operating Model
  • Build and operationalize the IT PMO, including governance structures, delivery standards, templates, tools, and portfolio performance metrics.
  • Define clear roles, responsibilities, and expectations for project managers, business analysts, and process analysts.
  • Establish consistent project lifecycle, stage-gates, and reporting cadences.
  • Mature PMO practices over time in alignment with organizational capability maturity goals.
  • Portfolio Governance, Intake, and Prioritization
  • Own and operate the enterprise intake, prioritization, and portfolio governance process, ensuring consistent evaluation, sequencing, and transparency across initiatives.
  • Partner with executive and functional leaders to evaluate initiatives based on strategic value, risk, capacity, and regulatory impact.
  • Maintain delivery-focused portfolio views including timelines, dependencies, funding, and capacity.
  • Facilitate IT Steering Committee and portfolio review forums, including prioritization decisions in partnership with IT Applications and IT Infrastructure groups, as well as Business Owners.
  • Financial and Vendor Management
  • Own projectlevel financial management and reporting for the IT project portfolio including initiative forecasting, capital/expense tracking, and delivery cost transparency.
  • Provide transparency into costs, risks, and tradeoffs.
  • Provide project delivery vendor coordination related to timeline, scope, deliverables, and budget.
  • Team Leadership and Capability Development
  • Hire, lead, coach, and develop internal PMO staff and external partners.
  • Oversee performance management, and professional development of PMO staff.
  • Scale PMO structure and capacity in alignment with growth.
  • Establish performance expectations and development paths.
  • Build team capability to support organizational growth and project modernization.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership and Delivery Excellence
  • Partner with leaders across Clinical, Operations, Revenue Cycle Management, Finance, and HR.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and governance standards.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate project execution and delivery risks.
