Learn more at www.dashiell.com Job Title: Director, IT Enterprise Architect Job Location: 12301 Kurland Drive, Houston, Texas 77034 Primary Function : Reporting to the SVP, Transformation, the Director IT Enterprise Architect plays a key role in shaping, designing, and guiding this platform. This role translates business requirements into system capabilities, coordinates with IT and implementation partners, and helps ensure solutions are delivered consistently, securely, and in alignment with the transformation strategy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related discipline.
  • 8–12+ years of experience in engineering, construction, utilities, infrastructure, or large capital projects, in roles bridging IT and the business.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting major enterprise system programs (ERP/CRM/HR/field) from an IT, architecture, or program perspective.
  • Familiarity with project-based business models, including project controls, project accounting, revenue recognition, and contract and change management.
  • Solid working knowledge of enterprise resource planning and related systems in areas such as project management, project accounting, purchasing, inventory, subcontracts, vendor management, time and expense, HR, and financials.
  • Understanding of system architecture, integrations, and environments, including APIs, middleware, data flows, environment strategies, and monitoring.
  • Experience with reporting and analytics platforms and translating business needs into reporting and dashboard requirements.
  • Awareness of security, compliance, and data protection requirements for enterprise systems, including identity and access management, audit, disaster recovery, and data retention.
  • Familiarity with the enterprise software landscape relevant to project-based companies, including planning, finance, CRM, HR, procurement, project controls, and field execution tools.
  • Experience evaluating and comparing digital platforms and vendors using RFIs/RFPs, demos, and reference checks, and providing structured input to decision-makers.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into testable system requirements and support objective comparisons between solution designs.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders across operations, finance, HR, supply chain, IT, and HSE.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills—able to simplify complex technical topics for non-technical stakeholders and capture decisions clearly.
  • Experience working in large transformation programs, with the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining focus on quality and stability.
  • A problem-solving, delivery-focused mindset: structured, detail-oriented, and comfortable working through ambiguity with senior leadership.
  • High level of ownership, integrity, and professionalism when representing the transformation to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to stand and walk intermittently during office or site visits.
  • Ability to travel to project sites and offices as required (typically short-duration visits).
  • Ability to walk on uneven terrain, gravel, and graded surfaces typical of substation construction sites.
  • Ability to navigate active construction environments, including: stairs, ramps, temporary walkways partially completed structures
  • Ability to climb stairs or ladders to access elevated work areas or control buildings (not continuous climbing).
  • Ability to wear required PPE, including hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toe boots, FR clothing , and hearing protection as needed
  • Working extended hours, including weekends, may be required periodically.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without visa sponsorship.

  • Master’s degree (e.g., MBA, MS in Information Systems, or similar) is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Work with senior leadership, business leaders, and IT to align digital initiatives with the overall transformation roadmap.
  • Coordinate platform evaluation and selection activities, including gathering business requirements, organizing vendor demos, and preparing structured comparisons for decision-makers.
  • Translate business needs into clear functional and technical requirements for planning, project controls, finance, procurement, CRM, HR, and field execution capabilities.
  • Partner with enterprise architects and infrastructure/security teams to shape the target application and integration architecture, including environments, interfaces, and data flows.
  • Serve as a key liaison between business process owners and implementation partners, ensuring system designs reflect both technical best practices and operational realities.
  • Design and coordinate key testing cycles (system, integration, user acceptance), and support cutover planning, go-live readiness, and early post-go-live stabilization.
  • Support data migration planning and execution, coordinating mapping, rules, and validation with IT and business teams.
  • Contribute to training and change enablement by providing input on role-based training materials, system documentation, and support processes.
  • Support the Digital & Systems Strategy Translate strategic priorities into a practical roadmap for enterprise platforms and core business systems.
  • Maintain a clear view of the target application landscape for planning, CRM, HR, finance, project controls, procurement, and field execution tools.
  • Provide structured input on technical feasibility, integration impacts, and operational considerations for proposed changes and releases.
  • Enable Platform Selection, Design & Process Harmonization Support selection processes by coordinating RFIs/RFPs, demos, proofs of concept, and consolidated scoring against requirements.
  • Work with business process owners to define standard processes and data structures that platforms must support, including project and cost structures, contract and change workflows, and forecasting.
  • Lead process harmonization workshops and define ‘standard’ vs ‘local variation’ rules across functions and regions.
  • Drive simplification decisions and minimize customization; maintain a customization and exception register and escalate risks where complexity grows.
  • Collaborate with architects and implementation partners to ensure designs are technically sound, scalable, and maintainable.
  • Strengthen Governance, Data & Internal Capability Help establish and refine governance processes for changes to enterprise systems, including design reviews, change control, and release planning.
  • Support a network of business process owners and super users across operations, finance, supply chain, HR, and HSE, and clarify roles and RACI for how systems are managed.
  • Establish master data model and data governance, including data owners, stewards, quality KPIs, and issue triage processes.
  • Define canonical data definitions and mapping standards across ERP, CRM, HR, and field systems to improve consistency and reporting quality.
  • Improve Performance, Visibility, AI & Control Work with business and IT stakeholders to define standard reports and dashboards for project performance, margin, cash, risk, and resource utilization.
  • Promote integration and data consistency across systems supporting planning, engineering, procurement, construction, finance, HR, and HSE.
  • Support adoption of analytics, workflow automation, and AI-driven insights that improve efficiency and decision quality.
  • Identify and prioritize high-value AI and automation opportunities across ERP, CRM, HR, and field workflows; integrate these into the transformation roadmap.
  • Define AI architecture and governance, including data readiness, model and vendor evaluation, responsible AI controls, and monitoring.
