About The Position

We’re looking for a hands-on IT Director/Chief Architect to own the strategy and end to end operation of our global EDA engineering compute estate—covering HPC grids, intelligent job & license scheduling, utilization analytics, observability, and data protection/access controls for high value engineering IP. You’ll set technical standards, make architecture decisions (ADRs), and lead a multiyear modernization across on Prem clusters and cloud burst.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of IT-related work experience with a Bachelor's degree or 10+ years of IT-related work experience without a Bachelor’s degree.
  • 5+ years of supervisory or leadership experience.
  • 3+ years of work experience in a role requiring interaction with senior leadership (e.g., VP level and above).

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in an IT-related field.

Responsibilities

  • Define the target state for multi‑scheduler operations (e.g., LSF plus Altair or Slurm), queue/Fairshare models, job submission APIs, session/pipeline scheduling, and guardrails for high availability and performance.
  • Integrate license scheduling and policy/rusage governance to reduce denials, increase throughput and fairness, and simplify cross‑cluster feature management.
  • Build a converged metrics/logs/traces stack (e.g., Prometheus/Grafana and/or commercial APM) with SLOs, high‑signal alerting, canaries, and auto‑remediation (throttles, host quarantine, routing).
  • Productize dashboards and decision systems (utilization, wait times, storage I/O, capacity/forecasting) that drive investments and continuous optimization.
  • Lead engineering IP classification and least‑privilege access patterns; implement enclave/containment and monitoring/audit pipelines to prevent IP contamination while enabling collaboration.
  • Establish patterns for cloud execution (images/tooling, data locality, object storage, cost & performance visibility), then graduate pilots to production—safely and economically.
  • Lead managers/architects/SREs; run weekly ops and a predictable change cadence; partner tightly with design/CAD teams, security, finance/procurement, and vendors.

Benefits

  • $186,600.00 - $280,000.00 salary range.
  • Competitive annual discretionary bonus program.
  • Opportunity for annual RSU grants.
  • Highly competitive benefits package designed to support success at work, at home, and at play.
