A Brief Overview Leads analysis and reporting of Bermuda statutory filings for Investment Accounting. Ensures alignment and coordination with internal partners to ensure accurate and timely reporting. Monitors and shares internally any relevant changes occurring in Bermuda regulatory landscape. What you will do Financial close: Leads preparation and review of month-end, quarter-end and annual reports for assigned Investment Accounting areas. Ensures compliance with Bermuda statutory guidelines. Works with internal departments to assure integrity of data and reports and continually evaluates quality of information for accuracy and compliance and works to resolve various reporting and process flow problems. Collaborates with other members of the Investment Accounting leadership team to develop goals that align with division and company objectives and then manages to those expectations. Learn and master investment accounting systems and technology tools to complete work efficiently and effectively, including collaborating with finance, investments and technology teams to develop automated solutions for reporting efficiency and accuracy. Function as subject matter expert for Bermuda statutory investment reporting schedules. Update financial statement notes and interrogatories, consulting accounting policies and technical accounting resources for proper reporting in accordance with statutory accounting principles. Analyze changes in portfolio and investment holdings for accurate reporting, identify and explain variances and trends and prepare reporting for enhanced data visualization. Internal controls: Lead enhancement of internal control framework for investment accounting and reporting processes related to Bermuda reporting processes. Support the team by ensuring that financial risks are understood, controls are followed, concerns are escalated, and documentation is updated timely. Participate in findings remediation and projects to mature controls through efficiencies and automation. Audit-related activities: Manage complex auditor and regulator relationships, prepare comprehensive documentation and respond to inquiries in a professional manner, with an understanding of investment risks and ability manage issue resolution. Collaborate cross-functionally: Engage and work in a professional manner with all levels of employees across all regions and teams in RGA, including participation in cross-functional projects representing the team. This role will serve as a technical advisor between Finance and Investments regarding BMA regulations where expertise is required to explain investment accounting information, produce related analysis and reporting for stakeholder consumption. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts / Sciences (BA/BS) in Accounting/Finance or equivalent related work experience required
  • Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
  • 8+ Years insurance accounting, auditing or Investment Accounting experience
  • 2+ Years supervisory or management experience
  • 2+ Years insurance/reinsurance accounting experience
  • Advanced experience with GAAP accounting
  • Knowledge of accounting/finance, including broad business practices, investment accounting, GAAP and/or statutory requirements.
  • Investigative, analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to balance detail with departmental goals/objectives.
  • Oral and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to customize message to audiences with a wide variety of backgrounds – intern up to senior leadership.
  • Lead department/cross functional projects, drive change management and liaise with individuals across a wide variety of operational, functional, and technical disciplines.
  • People management skills, demonstrating the ability to lead, mentor, and develop associates and resolve conflicts; including the ability to delegate key areas of responsibility.
  • Balance priorities, take accountability for deadlines and demonstrate initiative for meeting deliverables with flexibility toward changing business needs.
  • Technical research skills with ability to locate, interpret and explain technical regulatory rules.
