About The Position

The Director of Internal Communications at UNC Health is responsible for leading a team focused on enhancing internal communications across the organization. This role involves developing strategic communication plans, engaging with over 40,000 employees, and serving as a key advisor to senior leadership, including the CEO. The Director will also measure the impact of communication initiatives and foster a culture of collaboration within a complex healthcare environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• Ten years of combined experience in media relations and internal/corporate communications for large organizations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines.
• Demonstrated ability to apply data and research findings to internal communications and content development efforts.
• Experience planning and managing complex projects from start to finish.

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with the current healthcare landscape of the Triangle and North Carolina.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and content management systems (CMS).
• Experience working collaboratively across various department functions.

Responsibilities

• Develop an annual internal communications plan in conjunction with the team and the Executive Director of Integrated Communications.
• Grow internal communication programs/initiatives in a complex organization, building credibility and trust with senior leaders.
• Lead company-wide employee communications, aligning outreach with senior leadership to facilitate engagement and retention.
• Manage organizational-wide change and develop metrics to measure the impact of internal communications efforts.
