About The Position

The Director Insurance role at Agree Realty is responsible for administering all property level Landlord and Tenant insurance. Reporting to the Executive Vice President, Asset Management, this position works across teams and specifically with Property Management, Legal, Lease Administration, Acquisitions, and Due Diligence. The Director Insurance role is responsible for independently coordinating and administering all aspects of the property and casualty program for the Landlord and Tenant.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree is required
  • Minimum 10 years of direct experience in insurance, with broad spectrum of insurance risk management experience
  • Analytical, detailed oriented, organized, and efficient
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office

Nice To Haves

  • General understanding of commercial real estate is preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Verify that Agree Realty has the appropriate coverage on our owned properties and that the Certificates of Insurance (COIs) include any tenants that are required to be listed as additional insureds.
  • Primary responsibility for all claims filed.
  • Respond to requests from tenants asking for copies of Landlord’s COIs.
  • Responsible for getting any necessary COIs related to the due diligence process.
  • Onboard new acquisitions & development with external vendors.
  • Quarterly update the statement of values for the portfolio.
  • Coordinate the annual renewal of the company’s insurance program.
  • Coordinate all aspects of the captive insurance program.
  • Report quarterly portfolio changes to carriers.
  • Advise and design coverage strategies aligned with portfolio growth and identify gaps in the program.
  • Advise leadership on industry standards.
  • Build relationships with brokers and underwriters to ensure understanding of Agree’s goals and growth and to entice the best program pricing.
  • Manage vendors, adjusters and outside counsel.
  • Serve as internal resource for all departments (COI requests, premium breakdowns, contract reviews).
  • Review lease insurance requirements and verify the COIs have the coverage required by the lease.
  • Collect COIs from Tenants to meet internal goals for compliance.
  • Support Acquisitions and Due Diligence to clarify underwriting for new tenants.
  • Formulate, report, and manage all aspects of commercial insurance claims ranging from management liability, general liability, property, pollution liability, cyber, fiduciary liability, automobile liability, and worker's compensation to conclusion. This also includes management of all claims, up to and including responding to interrogatories and attending mediation for litigation claims.
