About The Position

The Innovation Director is a strategic leadership role responsible for identifying, piloting, and scaling enterprise-wide transformations, with a primary focus on the Compassus AI agenda. This role serves as a high-level individual contributor, operating as a functional expert and a strategic extension of the Office of the CEO. The Innovation Director bridges the gap between executive-level strategy and operational execution, ensuring that cutting-edge technology and process improvements deliver measurable value across an 11,000-person organization. This position requires exceptional "influence without authority" to drive results across cross-functional teams and maintain a sophisticated narrative for Board of Directors and Private Equity stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Professional Experience Required: 5-7 years of experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, investment banking, or a rigorous analytical/innovation role.
  • AI Proficiency: Demonstrated hands-on experience applying AI productivity and workflow tools (e.g., LLMs, GPT, Copilot) in a professional or operational context.
  • Strategic Communication: Proven ability to build structured frameworks for ambiguous problems and communicate findings to executive audiences via PowerPoint and written memos.
  • Education Required: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • Functional Authority: Ability to command respect and lead project "squads" without formal direct-report oversight.
  • Intellectual Curiosity: A track record of rapidly becoming "the expert" in new domains and technical landscapes.
  • Operational Integrity: Excellence in managing multi-step processes and complex project timelines.
  • Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Advanced ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage (essential for AI ROI modeling and P&L impact analysis).
  • Language & Communication Skills Analytical Reading: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Executive Writing: Ability to write comprehensive reports, high-stakes business correspondence, and complex procedure manuals.
  • Presentation & Presence: Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from senior leaders, colleagues, investors, and external parties.
  • Core Leadership & Operational Skills Outcome Orientation: Deeply results-driven with a high degree of professional maturity.
  • Influence & Respect: Ability to earn respect in short order while working with others in a respectful, collaborative manner.
  • Philosophical Alignment: Articulates and embraces the hospice philosophy and the mission of integrated home-based care.
  • Organization: Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to navigate ambiguous project timelines independently.
  • Flexibility: Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends as project demands require.
  • Mobility: Must be able to travel as needed to support enterprise-wide AI deployment and innovation initiativ

Responsibilities

  • AI Transformation & Technology Strategy
  • Enterprise AI Roadmap: Own the end-to-end strategy for AI integration, from initial business case development to full-scale deployment and governance.
  • Pilot Management: Spearhead innovation pilots by coordinating cross-functional stakeholders, managing vendor relationships, and establishing success metrics.
  • Governance & Compliance: Develop and maintain the enterprise AI governance framework, ensuring all deployments meet risk assessment and regulatory standards.
  • Value Realization: Continuously monitor the AI landscape for emerging tools and track the ROI and adoption rates of existing deployments.
  • Executive Operations & Board Relations
  • Strategic Narratives: Lead the creation of high-stakes materials for Board of Directors and PE sponsor engagements, translating complex data into clear, actionable executive insights.
  • Operating Rhythm: Facilitate the executive leadership team’s strategic priorities, tracking milestones and ensuring accountability for enterprise-wide initiatives.
  • Executive Presence: Serve as a subject matter expert in senior-level meetings, representing the Innovation function to the ELT and external partners.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Influence and align disparate departments (Clinical, Finance, IT, and HR) to ensure the successful adoption of new workflows and technologies.
