About The Position

The IT Security Operations Director is a security senior leadership role responsible for the operational management of the Company’s security program including Security Engineering, Security Architecture, and the Security Operations Center (SOC). This position ensures the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of IT enterprise systems and digital product solutions, infrastructure, applications, and data. This position also manages the continued operations of security controls and solutions to ensure the delivery of business and strategic goals set in the Company’s Information Security Program.

Requirements

  • Deep understanding of security frameworks (NIST CSF, ISO 27001, MITRE ATT&CK) and regulatory requirements (HIPAA, CCPA, PCI-DSS).
  • Strong grasp of enterprise and cloud security architectures, zero trust principles, and secure development practices.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate technical risk into business context.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage budgets, and deliver measurable security outcomes.
  • Works cooperatively with providers and internal team.
  • Ability to build trust and rapport among staff, works to minimize and resolve conflicts.
  • Ability to train, coach, mentor and supervise subordinates, clearly communicates company and team goals and procedures, and motivates team to achieve success.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in information security, including 5+ years in leadership roles.
  • Proven track record overseeing security architecture, engineering and SOC functions in complex enterprise environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • CISSP, CISM, CISA, CRISC, or Cloud security certifications (CCSP, AWS Security Specialty, Azure Security Engineer)

Responsibilities

  • Security Operations Leadership & Governance Lead and manages the execution of the IT security objectives and operations for security Engineering, Architecture and the Operations Center in alignment with the Company’s Information Security Program.
  • Maintains security processes and frameworks in compliance with applicable policies, standards and best practices that support risk-based decision-making and technology operations.
  • Partner with leaders and business stakeholders across multiple business functions to integrate technology security controls into digital transformation, product development, data management and IT operational processes.
  • Generates and maintains a set of meaningful key security operational performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Security Architecture Lead the design and evolution of secure enterprise, secure product development and secured cloud and on-premise infrastructure architectures.
  • Ensure security is embedded in IT and business projects through architectural reviews.
  • Drive standardization and simplification of security controls to reduce complexity and improve resiliency.
  • Security Engineering Oversee the design, implementation, and lifecycle management of security technologies (e.g., Email security, endpoint protection, vulnerability management, network security, SIEM/SOAR, etc.).
  • Lead automation and orchestration initiatives to improve detection, response, and operational efficiency.
  • Supports the evaluation of emerging security solutions and technologies to enhance capabilities.
  • Oversee vulnerability management, patching, and configuration compliance across infrastructure and applications.
  • Security Operations Center (SOC) Oversee and maintains 24/7 SOC operations, ensuring timely detection, triage, and response to security incidents.
  • Establish incident response playbooks, escalation protocols, and post-incident reviews.
  • Drive proactive threat hunting, intelligence integration, and adversary emulation exercises.
  • Manage security monitoring, logging, and forensic capabilities.
  • Coordinate security testing activities including penetration testing and red/purple team exercises.
  • People Management Recruits, hires and retains qualified candidates for reporting positions.
  • Lead and mentor a team of security managers, architects, engineers, and analysts across multiple security and business domains.
  • Creates and fosters a culture of continuous collaboration, innovation, and process improvement.
  • Ensures appropriate coverage of IT Security Operations personnel to enable continuous operations of information security controls.
  • Develop team capabilities through training, certifications, and career development pathways.
