About The Position

The Director of Individual Giving is responsible for cultivating, stewarding, and managing a portfolio of donors in the Greater Boston Area who are committed to ensuring that all children have access to an equitable and excellent education. This role involves partnering with Executive Directors, regional advisory board members, and other front-line fundraisers to maximize giving and develop a long-term vision and strategy for achieving development goals for both public and private funding. The Director will raise $1-2 million or more from a portfolio of donors, ensuring that primary solicitors are well-positioned to engage with donors across all stages of the donor life cycle. The position requires a true team player who can contribute significantly to the local fundraising landscape.

Requirements

  • At least 4+ years of related experience in development and fundraising context.
  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage up and laterally to influence development teammates.
  • Experience stewarding a portfolio of donors with the capacity to give $5K+ annually.
  • Track record of meeting individual revenue goals.

Nice To Haves

  • Teach For America development experience.
  • Fluency with Canva or basic graphic design tools.
  • Experience managing donor relationships directly and making fundraising asks.
  • Marketing experience or a strong marketing flair for storytelling and visual communication.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of individual donors, primarily gifts from $5,000 to $25,000.
  • Leverage broader vision set for the local fundraising landscape to build and execute a plan for cultivating a portfolio of individual donors.
  • Work in close partnership with the Executive Director and other fundraisers to build relationships necessary to advance fundraising efforts.
  • Consistently maintain donor, prospect, and fundraising activity information in the customer relationship management system (SalesForce).
  • Steward team and organizational initiatives.
