JOB SUMMARY : Responsible for the overall management, coordination, and direction of the Radiology, Cardiology Testing, Neurodiagnostic, PET, and Neuroscience Lab (EEG) Departments. Design and implement critical operational initiatives and best practices focused on improving patient experience, patient flow, throughput, finances and other key metrics. Collaborates with organizational leadership in support of the annual operating plan, performance improvement activities, hiring and retention of personnel. Assists with policy development and review. Represents the unit in hospital/system meetings, discussions and other function Responsible for a budget in excess of $125M in gross revenue and oversight of greater than 40 full time equivalent employees. Responsible as an integral part of the leadership team for the performance of the respective services. Collaborates with like departments at other Gut hrie sites to share best-practices, align processes, and improve care for Guthrie patients. REPORTS TO : Radiology Service Line Administrator with matrix to President Guthrie Corning Hospital QUALIFICATIONS : Bachelor’s degree in health related field required Masters in Healthcare Administration or related healthcare field SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS : Fairness and diplomacy in dealing with employees. Ability to make rapid decisions and deal with a variety of detail. Considerable initiative and judgment involved in solving complex personnel problems. Discretion with regard to safeguarding confidential information. Ability to perform all requirements of the position in a manner which precludes the possibility of questions regarding the ethical standards of the individual. Ability to interact and communicate effectively with employees, staff members, members of Administrative team, board members, members of community, organized labor and governmental agencies. Fully supports and utilizes the principles of quality and performance improvement. Acts as a role model. Responsible for managing and performance of staff and the physical condition of the department (loss prevention program) in a manner that ensures the risk of injury to patients, visitors and employees is minimized, through ongoing safety training. Should have sufficient administrative ability to assist in planning, organizing, directing and controlling the clinical activities of the Radiology Department. Strong working knowledge of PACS to include, but not be limited to, Microsoft Windows Server, disk storage arrays, disk and tape archiving systems, data communications protocols, DICOM, HL-7, PC’s, printers, and peripheral equipment. Experience working with HIPAA and other governmental regulations regarding access, distributions and long term storage of Diagnostic images. Must be able to work effectively with diverse groups of people, build relationships and consensus, work well under pressure, and on concurrent multidisciplinary projects. Excellent written/oral communications skills required. Experience working in a union environment, adhering to labor relations principles, and apply a labor contract.
